Had a burst tire in Belgium. Span round facing oncoming traffic. Frightening. A lorry driver stopped and used his mega truck to protect us. Never got to meet him but God do I love that fellow.

Where I live now was paying for stuff in a shop when my lil one was in a buggy still. I had my handbag on the back of the buggy as most mums do and I didn't notice my daughter had gotten hold of it and had been dropping £20 notes all around the shop totalling £300 which was my bill money that week. Some kind gent noticed and ran about hunting it all down for me and even told off a couple of kids who tried to snag £60 of it lol x

My 12 year old nephew has cerebral palsy, he can't walk, talk, needs 24 hour care etc. A couple of years ago, I was out shopping with him in burton (he loves going shopping). We had sat down on a care for a drink and cake and there was an old couple looking at us and smiling. The old guy came over as he was leaving the care and pressed some money into my hand and said "he is a lovely boy and its clear you love him so much, please go and buy him something nice". Before I could even say thank you and open my hand, they had gone. When I opened up my hand there was £50!! I couldn't believe it, I burst into tears. I spent ages searching for the couple so I could say thank you but I couldn't find them.

It was such a kind gesture and especially so as some nasty woman had given me a mouthful earlier in a shop for accidentally bumping into her with his wheelchair.

I will never forget that couple. I am sure they were angels xx

Cycling on the B5201 towards the windle area of St. Helens, I got clipped by a car that didn't stop. I ended up with a bent rear wheel and cuts and bruises to my arms and legs. A passing car saw me pick myself up out of the gravel at the side of the road and drive back to near whiston Hospital to drop me off at home.

I did thank them, but they would not accept anything for helping me out.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I was told about a lovely place to stay in Franz Josef in New Zealand. I didn't book anywhere as I was just driving to different places on a whim. When I got there I told them who had recommended them to me and they gave me the only room left that night. It was the honeymoon suite with views over the mountains and they refused to take any money because the person who had recommended it had done something for them once.

Today two strangers came over to help when I fell on the stairs at Kings Cross.

I was speechless cos I'm a big girl. Paul was with me but had barely noticed and was turning around to help just as this man picked me up!!

about 30 years ago - worked in an office and a temp we had working with us (so not a complete stranger) came up to me and said 'something under your desk, dont say you dont need it and no thanks needed' - it was a couple of bags of shopping, basics, cat food and a few treats - i was really struggling for money living in my flat and she had kids my age- id lost loads of weight as unable to afford food - i just burst into tears and vowed if i was ever able to do the same for others i would - about 3 times i have done this since and will continue to do so if needed and im able - i will never forget her it meant the world - and probably the first time anybody had done something for me without throwing it back in my face at some point - makes me teary to this day thinking about that day

We were back packing in China... missed the last bus in the middle of nowhere so thought we'd thumb a lift. This jolly guy picked us up and enjoyed our company all the way to the nearest town. As we reached the outskirts of the town, however, his demeanor changed to a look of worry. He ushered for us to quickly leave his van with great haste and stealth. We slipped out. As we looked back he was being pulled out of his van by a police man who was pointing at us and asking him what sounded like some pretty harsh questions.

Sometimes an act we might take for granted... turns out to be a tremendous gift for someone else to give. He eventually drove off so I think whatever we did wrong... we just managed to evade getting anyone in shit.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Back when hitch-hiking was OK I was hitching from Leicester to Birkenhead (don't ask) a guy picked me up and insisted on dropping me at my destination, even though he wasn't going that way. He was a love.

And the staff at a station where I suddenly became ill were delightful, helping me with my luggage and getting me on the train.

What an odd thing to say! I put this thread up not to get people snipeing at other users not to start issues just out of idle curiosity if you want to be snide feel free to put your own thread up to do it on.

i was a teenager backpacking with friends in the middle of summer. this kind lady said i didnt look well and would i like a glass of squash and a rest. she took us into her home and insisted i cool off. what i didnt realise at the time was that i had heat stroke and all she had to offer was the shelter of her bedsit. i was soon better and we set off again. sometimes it seems that those with the least, do the most good.

"And which part of the UK or the world was it? "

One night, after an evening with the lads, my car broke down. It was around 11.30. I pushed my car into a pub car park, leaving a note in the windscreen and suddenly a London black cab pulls up. He enquired if I was OK. To cut a long story short, he dropped me back at my friends house, some 6 miles away, and didn't charge me. What a gent.
