Was a Redskins fan when John Riggins was the star running back.

Then changed allegiance to SF with Joe Montana and Jerry Rice.

Lost my way somewhat after that.

its not the franchise system that is a joke, its the teams moving thing that gets people down...

raiders from oakland to la and back to oakland

rams from LA to st louis

cardinals from St.Louis to Arizona

Colts from Baltimore to Indy

Ravens from Cleveland to Baltimore...

I don't know anyone who doesn't believe the Jags will eventually end up in London, the Bills will eventually likely go to Toronto, and the Chargers could end up in LA if San Diego dont pay for a new stadium...

The teams move due to local apathy. Eventually the city stops supporting the team. I remember when Jacksonville was awarded the jaguars, and all the excitement at the time. By the time Jacksonville hosted the Superbowl, the jags were getting no local support at all. They were talking about moving them before that Superbowl. And the residents supported that. Fanhood is largely transient in the u.s. because it's more a player that people are a fan of than the team. That's not unanimous, but it's a large factor.

There are a lot of jokes around American Football if you read widely enough.

Sick jokes at that, the quality of degrees the athletes get for one, and how in a lot of local areas how the "star" footballers can get away with the most despicable of crimes and the corrupt system moves in to cover up. Just sayin.

But isn't the whole NFL rigged so that each team gets it's decent chance at winning the big one eventually?

For a long time, IIRC, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were absolutely shite and yet eventually they won? Even with the Glazers on board.

Any system of a team that has its roots in one city then on an owners whim can be moved to a different one is a joke.. Like in football the MK Dons..

How would you feel if your team lets say Liverpool were bought by some multi billionaire in Manchester then built a new stadium in Stockport.. Or took Manchester United to London.. Well that wouldn't make much difference I suppose.. So its the same in NFL when I first started suporting the Raiders they were an LA team it wasn't till a couple of years I knew they wer from Oakland so now they have gone home.

Shame they can't take some obscure team in Leeds to a decent city. Nah that will never happen, nobody would want them

Responding to your above statement, as well....the degrees that athletes get in the u.s. are no worse than those offered in British universities these days. It used you be very bad, the athletes being covered for, getting gifts, etc. It probably still happens but it's no where near as bad as it was.

If the nfl were rigged so that each team got a decent shot, why do teams go back to the superbowl for several years running?

Because the way the draft works teams get a chance to pick better players first and so build a better team for a few years

It's a great idea the draft it would help out teams in lower leagues plus the way the teams in prem can cherry pick the best tallent from the school boy teams in the lower league academies..

Anyway less of football

Nfl getting closer

I know most of us are fans of the NFL... but in the last few weeks with the Ray Rice case.... and the Greg Hardy Case..... and now the Adrian Peterson Stuff.... it is more and more putting me off the Professional game...

I like the College Game and Saturday Afternoons a lot lot more... much more passion
