It is all going to plan so far, I think I will have it completed in the next two weeks. So what DIY project are you taking on at the moment ?

Removed a wall and built out a new partition one, moving the original bedroom door too, to build an en-suite. boarded the entire room and en-suite, full rewire with additional sockets and lighting, plumbed it all, new window (i didn't do that though), built in wardrobes (fuck you Sharps and your £4k quote for 4 doors ) ) rebuilt the fireplace bay and added a lovely cast iron surround and an integrated TV on the chimney breast and moved 1 radiator and added a second.

Just waiting for a plumber to come and connect to soil pipe for me (i really don't fancy that shitty job), then its on with the final decoration!....might be done by March

My partner and I did a full house renovation, knocked it back to four bare walls and a hole in the ground then rebuilt it from scratch.

It will be worth it but always remember it takes longer and costs more then you allow for.

im 7 years in and probably £20k+ spent so far- should have everything finished just in time to start decorating at the beginning again before selling and moving

We havent a specific budget. We know how we want it so it will have to cost as much as it ends up at. Eeeeek!! Also we can stay where we live now and have no rush to get in it.

We just hope we enjoy the house when its done. If not, plan B. Move abroad! Lol!

other than a few things like gas and large windows etc, i do pretty much everything myself between work and everything else. I also never borrow money for stuff, so its done when i have the funds free and planned well in advance (except for the conservatory, which i bought on a whim from ebay- based on it being cheap, local and having at least a 51% chance it would fit )

You could do worse than a handy man.

I'm quite a "handy" man myself but i'm shit at the proper sort of DIY.

Do you not think a bit of wood, maybe plastic, MDF or whatever, would help?

Lol! The joys and bargains of eBay! It can help a lot when you need so much to even get started. Tools etc too...

Yeah..we are the same. It is getting done between working our jobs and we also won't be going down the borrowing route. We have some put aside so should be OK. We have said if we do move in(its not habitable at the moment), we probably wouldn't get as much done.

Watch this space....
