So any advice would be greatly appreciated, have an appointment at Apple later this afternoon but wondered if anyone knew a quick fix or what the problem may be ?

Cheers

You can try pressing shift-control-option and power buttons at the same time, this sometimes resets the charging circuit.

Gimp

Its unusual for a 2yo Mac to not charge- i'm running a 2010 MBP which has basically been powered up since i had it- other than when i go on holiday.

Its more likely to be a PSU fault- so either the transformer block has overheated (they do get very hot) or the cable got pulled in the magsafe connector. is the amber/green charging light showing on the connector?

It could of course be a faulty battery as there have been a few issues with Apple batteries (mainly in phones).

If you're lucky, somebody got the Apple care warranty when they ordered the laptop (there were quite a few deals with free or very cheap upgrades)- in which case its covered for the next year and will be fixed FOC by Apple.

The Apple shop should at least diagnose the problem but it may be a lot cheaper to get an independent Apple specialist to fix it once you know the fault. Batteries you can do yourself if you're hand with a screwdriver- lots of online guides to follow.

Generally, as long a the main board hasn't gone its a bloody great machine and well worth fixing- you could always sell it to me as spares or repair if you don't want to sort it out too

Hi mate cheers for the post There is no light on the magsafe connection, i did ask if it was working before and the charger is working on another mac.

I have tried SMC reset etc but to no avail , even tried some suggestions of warming up the charger lol !!

Am going to Apple this afternoon to see if they can diagnose it and am definitely gonna try and repair it as know they are good

Not sure what price they go for as spares repairs lol as its in great condition and inside is immaculate
