They can be a bitch to get off if its electric but sort soon as it might be more than the glass that drops off as you go down the road.

East Sussex

When this has happened to us we tape it in place until we can fit a new one. EBay is good for things like that.

Will they try to dive into it?

If the glass is still intact, it may simply have come unclipped from the backing - try pressing gently but firmly around the central area of the glass (imagine a 2"/50mm circle and press in this area ONLY)

If the glass is cracked or broken, then you can get a replacement glass only that sticks to the current one using small double-sided sticky pads .... but NOT if your present mirrors are the heated type!

Glass isn't cracked but something fell out of the back

My guess is that part of the plastic at the back that secures the glass has broken.

At your own risk, you could try GENTLY prising the mirror off completely using a wide blade (using thick card to protect the painted mirror housing) to check and possibly repair it.

I can't see any easy way to stop the glass moving otherwise, and it's likely to fall out and smash while you're driving anyway!

Take it apart and have a look.
