Now I understand, and I'm willing to give the benefit if the doubt that somtimes unavoidable things will happen that means you can't make a meet.

But why when you've arranged to meet why would some one not show then block you? It seems like the whole point of the exercise is to waste someone's time for some sadistic pleasure.

This happens and I have no idea why but it must be horrible.

Choose more carefully in future and speak to them on the 'phone before meeting.

It's difficult for men to fake being female on the 'phone

Mainly, as far as I can see because they chicken out, or just want the fantasy of arranging it. The latter type are often male pretending to be female.

It's certainly frustrating especially when it's a distance to travel

I can understand the chickening out thing when we first started I was so nervous the first time I would have welcomed any excuse not to go but I did and very pleased I am too. We have met a couple of guys who were clearly like rabbits in the headlights they were so nervous but they turned up and respect to them for doing that.

Try sitting in a pub, having just recieved a text from someone saying 'i'm on the bus, be there in 10 minutes'...

Going to message them back to say 'ok I am sat by the pool table'... and seeing UNLOS pmsl

Made my day that did.. I felt like I'd earned my first Fab stripe

This has only happened to us once, and we'll never know the real reason why.

Sadly some people are unreliable, some are dishonest and some are just fantasists.

The only advice we can give is make sure you've got a back-up plan, then at least your evening won't have been wasted.

Nowadays we only ever arrange to meet people in a club or somewhere we were going anyway; that way, if they don't turn up, it doesn't affect us in the slightest.

And in future arrange meets somewhere you can wait in comfort, not too far to travel and where no-one will make you feel like you've been stood up.

I opt for chain coffee shops or the bars of chain hotels. I never give my address out - even if the plan is to go back to yours after, that way if they're a no show or not what was expected you are on neutral ground and no-one will turn up at your home unannounced at a later date.

What happens when you have met someone, you leave (smiles all round) and they ask you to verify them.

When you get home you find they have blocked you.

people must have their reasons!

Im a bit shocked people would fix a meet without speaking on the phone. You can guage someone better by asking and listening well that way. Newer users are probably also worth closer scrutiny, as they have less to lose, from a reputation side, than longer established users. I generally take my time, have less rather than more arrangements and feel more comfortable with people this way. And always report anything inappropriate.

I agree with this. Also, not giving your address means you won't be burgled while sat in Costa!

I don't chat to people on the phone nor expect it but I will if someone wants to and not had a problem with no shows in the grand scheme of things

The last time I'd arranged a meet was in town , they were out with friends and their plans changed slightly but I met up with a mate instead. Slightly disappointed but no great waste of time in the scheme of things

I arrange to meet in my local pub and take my Kindle, so when they don't turn up I don't look like a sad middle aged woman who's just been stood up.

With not meeting guys one on one I find it cuts my no shows down no end. If I arrange a meet in a club or whilst dogging and 10 don't show it is no huge loss.

One reason why I don't meet newbies. Long established, experienced and well verified or I don't bother. Since I started using this as a tighter filtering process I've had no no shows. So far.

If I can't see veris but the person has been on a year or more and they have the green tick, I don't meet. I know that some people prefer not to show veris but I prefer those who show them.

It works for me.
