hi guys what's your take on open relationships not just playing on this site but being a couple and seeing other people. can it work? are there any hang ups etc ?

It can work if there is love, trust and honesty.

Some work by turning a blind eye others are more communicative with each other. I have come to learn not to judge either - it's their relationship.

Each to there own. I would never be interested as sex to me is just that carnal pleasure, never felt jealous never would.

However when love and feelings come into it, my green eyed monster appears viciously

I met a woman in 1990, we had a monogamous relationship for the first 3 years of our 7 yrs together. She was 41 and I was 28 when we met, after those 3 years it became clear to both of us that we both craved sex with other people.

We would both go out together and if one of us "pulled" then the other would stay out of the way for a while.

It was her that got me into swinging when we bought our first copy of Rendezvous. Happy days indeed

I think it can, as long as trust and honesty, but if it changes the partner, and slowly things change, proberly time to move on.

I asked an ex for an open relationship, was forbidden, ok for his own open relationship though

You see to me sex is nothing I have a ridiculously high sex drive and I've never had a emotional link with anyone sexually.

Long cuddles, baths and showers together, that all links to emotional.

I've been with Paul for over 6 years I have never felt about anyone the way I feel about him. But sex is just that sex I don't care as long as I fancy the person I'm going with it's purely a thing of pleasure But emotions if where it would get me and where I would have a melt down

I have lived for 25 years in an open relationship and I have 2 children's ... It work , you have to talk a lot ..set up some rule( holiday with partner with no contact with the lovers ) be clear to make the difference beetween sex and love ( be totally honest with the lover ) .. Be discreet for the children ... and above all , not to ask many question of the whereabout of your partner ( no jealousy !) Total respect of your partner feeling , so it mean a lot of discussion

Open relationship elevate the frustration of maybe wanting something else in a couple .
