I'm havin a daft exchange of conversation with someone, in Welsh... ( not on here)

I am to the Welsh language what chocolate is to tea pots, and my Google translator has just gone into meltdown tryin to find "bwti"

Vaguely, I think it means "mate"... But can someone please help me with my vowel movements.... Please and diolch...

It's a term of affection like "lad" or mate. I'm a Welsh speaker so I don't have to google it.It originated from the coal-mines where a young boy would be left in charge of the miner's sandwiches.He therefore became his "butty boy".Over time this became "butty" then "butt"

Which is how, in the fotest of dean, they came to use "me old butt" for mate!
