"If your prescription is more than a six think very carefully. The chances of not having to wear glasses begins to drop massively (I know they'd be weaker glasses but if I'm paying a fortune I'd want to be glasses free). And if you're over 35 consider that age related degeneration may start to take things the other way soon so you'd have to start wearing them again. Also, the higher the prescription the higher the cost. To get mine done would cost around six thousand and the guarantees of success are very low. I had this advice from three separate opticians." Exactly, its something for the under 35's. A friend of mine had laser and a lens implant. The implant to give reading sight when looking down. The implant in one eye, the laser in both. It worked, she's 50. However they said it will need doing again at 55 and will have increasing risk each time .... A prescription over 6 is truly expensive

Both my eyes are 7s. The cost of the operation isnt an issue, its more the success rates that worry me. I have an astigmatism in one eye that always causes issues with new glasses. Ive been told that surgery could correct this. Thanks for all the advice folks. Very helpful
