Football (again)

Not wanting to derail Bens thread any further, the season starts this coming Friday night.

Im excited, I found The Prem wasnt as good as I had hoped, yeah we were shit (Cardiff) but all they really wanted to talk about was the big teams or what our stupid owner had said that day.

I hope we bounce back up but it wont be that easy.

Im not going to attempt to offer any nailed on predictions, but I think Cardiff, Derby, Brighton, Norwich and Fulham and Ipswich will contest the top 6 places.

To those who dont even like football, its not a problem, but why did you even open the topic?

Im not sure about us being shocked, most of us dont expect to rip right through it.

We spent ages trying to get out of it last time so I dont think we are under any illusions. This is what I have picked up chatting to locals and reading message boards.

I think the run Derby went on will stand them well but I think its us who have been labelled as Fav's

I think we will do the top 4 (cardiff) I dont think we will make it to prem again this season if im honest with ole. Hes still got a lot to prove for me. We've finally got strength in the forwards but our defence is still weak. But saying that cant wait for the season to begin.

Not interested in the minor leagues this season being a Leicester fan

On a serious note though I fancy Derby to win the division with Fulham runners up.

"Jordan Mutch joining Caulker at QPR will affect Cardiff"

and Gary Medel (who we played out of posistion).

Mutch is a very good attacking midfielder, 7 goals, smacked a few in from distance.

Caulker - I think he will flourish next to Rio Ferdinand if given the chance.

We will miss Frazer Campbell too, worked his socks off up front, missed a big lad to play off.

We have brought a few in Le Fondre excites me the most but we need to sort our defence out.

Keeping Marshall (gk) has been a bonus

I like the way the game has developed though. I like the fact its safer to go now, the quality is better.

I remember people saying England will never win the WC until they learn to stay up and tackle, rather than dive in. I cant help but think people get sent off now when they could of remained upright, this would 'possibly' remove the opportunity to dive and cheat the ref.

The refs get too much jip, the players dont help them.

Back to Derby, they were heading down (in freefall) when Mclaren came in so yes it hurts to lose like you did but you could be in League 1 this season.

It hurts like fuck at the time but I think long term its not a bad thing, it makes the players not want it again.

I don't feel that we were "in freefall", but merely that Cloughie had taken us as far as he could and we needed some fresh impetus and ideas.

I was happy with our point last night V Blackburn, could of lost easily, could do with some defenders and 4 in midfield, not 3.

Result of the day for me is Bournmouth away at Huddersfield
