"Ive just read a lovely book called the 5 people you meet in heaven, very heartwarming...I nicked it from a patient at work and I can't remember the author now...it only took a day to read but makes you think long and hard about your actions " It's by Mitch Albom and is about Eddie, a fairground maintenance man and the story begins on his 83rd birthday - his last day on Earth. He is met in heaven by five people from his past who help him to understand what led him to arrive in heaven on the day he did. Bit of a tear-jerker at the end with his 5th person, watch out for it.

"Try any of the Conn Iggulden 'Emperor' books - they're a fascinating read about the life & times of Julius Caesar told from a narrative perspective but based in fact never-the-less. There are four books in the series that need to be read in order: 1) Emperor - The Gates of Rome 2) Emperor - The Death of Kings 3) Emperor - The Field of Swords 4) Emperor - The Gods of War Iggulden has also written a series of books about Genghis Khan, from his childhood to leader on the Mongols that unified China, another fascinating insight into one the world's greatest warriors. There are three books in this series and, again, need to be read in the following order: 1) Wolf of the Plains 2) Lords of the Bow 3) Bones of the Hills " Ive read all these (im not into 'girlie' books)...have you tried William Napier's Attilla series....
