With the gorgeous weather and people from all over the uk wanting to head to beaches thought it would be cool to do a 'trip advisor' type thing on our local beaches or any that you'd recommend.

South Devon - Blackpool Sands

Although its not sand its very small pebbles its gorgeous views, theres a sand area for young children with a gentle stream from the surrounding fields. Currently has blue flag status.

Lovely cafe that makes and sells only locally produced food, has an extensive shop for all beach needs. Big car parking areas too

Weston super mare, sand is fine and very soft, easy to walk on, there are donkeys and thick mud between the beach and the sea. I wouldn't go there myself prefer the sharper sand of Atlantic facing Cornwall where many small quiet beaches beckon with seductive isolation.

Nottingham Market 'Square has a 'Beach' in it - with 250 tonnes of golden sweat stained sands, our themed fully licensed beach bar where adults can get slowly hammered on overpriced beer and a giant urine infested paddling pool.

We also have the Somali Pirate Ship experience (because after you've seen the prices you''think you've been robbed) and Waterballs - child-size hamster balls which float on water, just the thing to imprison your naughty child in on a warm sunny day.

All this brought to you by the Council of a land-locked county that could just offer reduced priced train fares to the real beach 2 hours way!

I was heartbroken to see Eastbourne Pier on fire yesterday. Its such a lovely seaside experience down there and the Pier was one of the few remaining Victorian ones.

It was lovely sitting the Grand Hotel looking out over the seafront and Pier, listening to the Wednesday evening Brass Band Concert.

I hope the restore it, though I foresee an argument over the economic viability of doing so.

Are you referring to the regular Wednesday one on the beach front (with complementary Brass Band accompaniment) or the tragic fire yesterday.

Totally agree.

Woods and fields tumble down onto the clean beautiful shingle..blue, blue, clear water..great facilities..excellent cafe...Difficult to imagine a more idyllic beach.

Me too. There's a meeting this morning to assess things. The hotels all along there will be affected in the short term and it's airbourne in a couple of weeks people use the pier as a viewing point usually. It's a bad thing

You cannot beat the beaches and views throughout Cornwall full stop! Particular favourites for me would be st. Agnes nice views and quite secluded if you go for a wonder into some of the coves perranporth, st.ives are also very good beaches!! Cornwall is best place to holiday in the UK by far! Almost feels as though you are abroad.

It`s great until the tide goes out! It goes bloody miles out and leaves mud flats! It isn`t AKA Weston Super Mud for nothing! Still, go the other side of Brean Down to Brean, Bridgewater and Highbridge and it`s even worse!!!!

Chasewater beach, Staffordshire. Close to the area where the hoard was found, so you may strike gold too. Glorious area, a place to relax next to the water, without huge waves crashing into you, so not frequented by fit surfers ( Plenty to do, a place for adults and families, and social get togethers. Burntwood on Sea Another place stuck in the centre of the landmass, miles from the ocean.

There had(s) been a little beach for years, parents took me as a kid, and there are plans afoot to expland or regenerate it. Sorry if thousands have jumped in the car and it's gone
