Worst concert

I have just attended what I think is the worst concert I've ever been to. There were terrible problems with the amplification, for some it was too loud and distorted, where we were sat it was too quiet.

And yet... I have never laughed so much or interacted with so many strangers - it may also have been the best concert I've ever been to!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Can you get your money back and still keep the friends or do you have to return them if you say it was a terrible concert?

I was well behaved - I cannot help it that the crowd went silent just as I mentioned where the man could put his euphonium ...

"Can you get your money back and still keep the friends or do you have to return them if you say it was a terrible concert?

"

It was in aid of charity so we didn't ask for a refund. I did however draw the sound problems politely to their attention.

About five times.

Stiff Little Fingers a couple of years ago. The venue ran out of beer before the fingers even got on stage, the band were miserable as sin, played hardly any of their classics and kept threatening to walk off of the crowd didn't behave. I've seen them loads of times but that was the last one for me

"I was well behaved - I cannot help it that the crowd went silent just as I mentioned where the man could put his euphonium ... "

The worst thing I've been to wasn't that bad, as in one of the acts was a stand out gem, but the atmosphere was toxic.

It was at a comedy club and there was a works' Christmas party in and I believe the office staff had booked it and then just told the warehouse lads what they were all doing. Hence you'd got a lot of lads at the bar just being a pain in the neck and the compere was terrible. He just kept chucking petrol on the sparks. It's been one of the few times I've been in a place and could see it kicking off like it does in saloons in the wild west. I felt sorry for the acts having to perform in a war zone.

It seems that when the bandmaster asks you all to sing along to Colonel Bogey that using a choir trained voice to to start the version that begins with HITLER causes some disturbance amongst the good citizens of Eastbourne - it's the only version I know!

Mine was a few years ago , hubby asked me if I would like to go and he was quite surprised that I said yes

It was not until the 2nd or 3rd song I realised that they were not who I'd thought they was

I thought I was going to see The Orb , you know the little fluffy clouds people but what I sat through was two hours of hardcore Orbital

It was horrendous

Chilli peppers at the ricoh arena....worst gig ever. They could have been playing in their garage for all they cared. No interaction with the crowd or anything, just bashed through their songs as quick as possible!

Personally my favourite bit of the whole night was Minxie singing "Wider still and wider" to which I lost all decorum!

Oh and when TD announced to us that her nephews had travelling hair friends, by this point I had sat through notes that I'm not sure I was supposed to quite hear, beautiful feedback on the system and the MD who got all of his instruments out and told awful jokes. I then tried to hide my head in my handbag...

Eastbourne, you were an experience!

Went to see Trivium about 6-7 years ago. They were ridiculously late, had all the life of a dying salmon and then fucked off after 5 songs.

Was not impressed considering how much tickets cost.

Ratt back in the 80's, sounded completely awful, then like an idiot, went to see them the next time they were here, ( I figured they had an off night) and they were worse.

I have been to 3 The Fall gigs and they have all been utterly shambolic but great fun. My favourite was where Mark E Smith sacked the keyboard player during soundcheck, played keyboards himself and got the sound engineer on stage to do vocals.

George Benson for me at the Manchester Arena. The musicianship was fantastic. But there was no attempt to interact or build any rapport with the crowd. Or to build an atmosphere.

I was bored and disappointed.

Paul Weller! I love his music and made the journey from Cornwall to the Albert Hall to see him.

He came on stage and complained about critics and announced he would only play tracks he liked. So he churned out B Sides and little known album tracks, as well as some bizarre disco covers.

People were getting up and walking out halfway through. I haven't bought a record of his since.

Total twat!

I've only ever seen them a few times and they are shambolically brilliant. As an aside Mark E Smith's description of Mumford and Sons is priceless

I have seen Razorlight. They are a truly awful live band.

The worst gig I've seen was a Levellers one a few years ago. The basist collapsed halfway through the first song and had to leave the stage. Band continued with an impromptu acoustic gig, which was interupted with a call for a doctor. Few songs in a d*unk twat gets on stage, grabs a microphone and starts abusing the band until he got decked by the mandolin player and a roadie. Band left the stage, returned about 10 minutes later explained that the basist was on his way to hospital but the guitarist from the support band was going to play bass for them but only knew a few songs, 20 minutes later they called it a night

It's Paul Weller for me as well.

Mrs P was a massive fan and loved everything he done. We went to Hammersmith to see him and she was so excited. He was in a foul mood and played mostly obscure songs. Mrs P has all his records and even she didn't recognise some of them. He introduced a song saying "this next one the critics hated and I got bad feedback from the fans but I like it so I'm playing it anyway". It was at this point Mrs P asked to go. As we left it was clear we weren't the only ones disappointed at his performance. She's never played one of his records since. He tried to hail me a few months ago but I just drove straight past him.

Worst concert I wnet to was WASP in 2012 at Mnachester Ritz. Blackie Lawless stood on a podium miming to a backing track, the guitarist obviously not playing, (think vintage top of the pops). BL did sing one song and sounded awful. I walked out half way through.

I also walked out of an Anvil concert because, hilarious as they were musically it was rubbish

My chemical romance a few years back I was dragged along by a friend and got acquainted with the music in the car on the way up. The music was fantastic but the singer! I couldn't work out if his balls had dropped as he kept squeaking and couldn't hold a note.

Got sneaked into a concert when I was 11 that's been previously mentioned in this thread and nothing has been able to compare with it since, great music and so much interaction with the crowd absolutely fantastic.

Obviously Lauren Harris only gets the gig because of her dad...

Another one for Paul Weller....

It was like watching paint dry, he was a right miserable buggar. I ended up going and sitting in the bar area.

Keith and I went to see Gary Numan. He came on and said I don't know why I never toured with this album. It was mostly him and a guitar. Dreadful I kept asking Keith was he finished all the way through it, shocking.

2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Actually I do like Within Temptation I just thought they were dull and uninspiring as a live act, especially when you're supporting Maiden. You bring your A-game to the stage.
