Just out of interest what are you more likely to let out into the traffic and what would get a big thumbs down?

I was thinking about this earlier, as when I was on my way to the wood this morning (dog walking you dirty minded peeps) I let out a big wagon, but chose not to let out a guy in a BMW.

I stopped to let a woman out into the traffic the other day

Nice friendly hand gesture as well . .

Cheeky cow. . Started waving her hands at me and giving me the 'v' sign. .

How i stayed calm I'll never know?! . . .

Guessing she'd had a seriously bad morning lol

It's a narrow road I come out of when I leave work, funnily enough a big lorry was lined up to turn into the street when I left, if I'd gone up to the junction he would not get in so I stopped about 12 ft from junction so he could turn, how nice am I

I hate when people randomly decide to stop on a main road to let someone out. Mainly because I'm now stopped behind them hoping to christ anyone coming behind is on the ball and I'm not about to die between two cars.

I have mixed feelings about letting Audiarses/Beemerbellends out in front or letting them wait.

If you let them out then the chances are their cuntish driving will be waaay ahead of you, cause an accident, you'll be queing for hours feeling guilty for inflicting them on someone else.

If you hold them back then they'll overtake you in a stupid place and you'll become part of the accident.

I will let most out if they are not too pushy. I also hate it when you flash or wave to let someone out and they are either looking the other way or don't see you have let them go……. I just drive on then.

Particular No No's for me are taxi drivers, private hire especially, as some think they have carte blanche to do what they want on the roads.

There's a Junction near me where lots of drivers try to wave me out and it infuriates me!

They don't seem to realise that in their blind spot there's another road joining and they are often waving me out into oncoming traffic that they can't see. It's also a popular road for cyclists, motorbikes and dog walkers and many a time when these drivers are waving me out I would wipe out an entire family if I trusted them and didn't check for myself.

So I sit there shaking my head to say no thanks and then they give me the finger!!!

Apparently it's rude to decline if someone is waving you out!

The infuriating part is that if they simply took their right of way I would probably be able to go soon after and not kill anyone in the process, so by doing me a favour I never asked for they hold everyone up!

The only people I let out are people who I think will be faster than me. So no buses , coaches or trucks. I prefer to have those vehicles behind me.

Also if a person at a junction makes eye contact with me and shows they want to come out and are pleasent about it I'll let them out. If you start edging your way out and try to force your way out you'll have to wait I'm afraid.

I tend to not let out beemers etc (often driven by nobs?). But I have also found that a guy is much more likely to let me out than a woman driver. (Obviously there are exceptions). Generally this is the case....any one else found this?

When did you last read Highway Code...this actually states that you should, where possible/safe give way to and allow busses out.

When did you last read Highway Code...this actually states that you should, where possible/safe give way to and allow busses out."

It's much safer to have a bus behind you so if you fully adhere to the Highway Code you'd never let a bus out.

Its funny how most of us judge people by the cars they drive when we know nothing about them. I'm often let out when driving my fire engine when not on a blue light run when I'm sure the same courtesy wouldn't be shown if I was in my car or on my motorbike. Funny breed we humans are!!

By doing this you are observing very poor lane management. The guidelines are that you use all lanes to their capacity as this cuts down on the queues. So the ones passing you are following correct procedure.

although I used to find that at the same junction if I got let out depended on which car I had took that day..

the bmw I could wait ages to get out.. the alfa normally straight out.. the pajero I just went

One of my big worries.

You've got right of way for a reason because your in the line of traffic that is expected to be free flowing and moving.

When you do something completely unexpected you put others at risk.

your wrong in the context it dosnt mean from junctions it means when pulling out from picking up n dropping off so that sighn on the arse end of a bus isn't 100% correct and it does specify if safe to do so. Well as a driver its up to me to deem if its safe

You are supposed to drive right up to the cones and then filter in. The lane isn't closd until the cones start. You are only queuing in your lane because everyone has moved over prematurely. The car in the clear lane is in the right.

I think he means on the motorway when people drive down a lane that is closed and people blatantly drive past the red X and barge in at the last minute.

That is exactly what should happen. Use both lanes and "merge in turn" at the cones. Some roadworks even have signs reminding people that this is the correct procedure.

In the USA they say use all lanes and "zip".

The first comment is true according to Highway Code and sensible driving.

I think it was tempting devil who doesn't like having others drive her car for her.

Im the same.

I decide when it's safe to pull out.

Not some knight of the road who feels like 'being nice' instead of observing road etiquette.

I AM that driver that sits at the junction and watches you going apopleptic because you think you can change the road rules and beckon drivers out that DONT have right of way.

DRIVE YOUR OWN CAR.

Incidentally ... if you DO pull out when beckoned and there is an accident YOU get done.

Also .... people who keep letting people into traffic is the reason traffic slows up so much.

If you'd all just sodding well drive they can get out eventually.

I ALWAYS let buses out from a layby.

I let anyone out IF and ONLY IF I am stopped or stopping in traffic e.g I don't STOP at junctions or block them but I NEVER let anyone out in moving traffic it's stupid to do so.

Amazing how many of you think people who wont do as you say are idiots. It's the other way around.

Read the H.C. and stick to it.

A colleague of mine ( she's supposed to be bright ) was hit side on two weeks ago.

She was crossing a dual carriage way when BAM ......

She had the GAUL to tell me the other car driver was speeding

So many people think it's the OTHER driver.

it is in the highway code, to safely give way to the bus, therefore the driver will expect you to slow down so he can pull out, not accelerate like an idiot for the clear reason of stopping him from doing so.

One of my big hates on motorway/dual carriageways are people who see they're comming up behind a slow vehicle and instead do keeping speed moving over early going past then pulling back in they wait till they're right up behind it now doing only about 56mph sit there then indicate an pull straight out into the 70+mph traffic of the other lane and try to get up to speed.

Why people do not grasp that if you are in that situation drop back wait for a good gap gather the speed in your lane then move over smoothly into traffic at the same pace as the lane your entering

I will usually let 1 car out at each junction, figure its good manners and helps... BUT if it's an SUV with tinted windows no way! I like to see over or through the vehicle in front of me.

I do let vans and trucks out though, they are not being deliberatly difficult
