Someone update me on passport gate please?

I've just sent off for a new one (last one expired & got lost). How long am I looking at for it to come back?

Anyone recently renewed?

I lost mine in April and applied online for a replacement. Took exactly 3 weeks x

Renewed a few months back, took about two or three weeks. Guess it'll be slower during holiday high season though

Renewed mine in June and it took 3 weeks, but I did have the old one to send off with renewal.

I sent mine off for renewal 4 weeks ago, sent off an enquiry yesterday to find out what the status was. They replied this morning saying currant times are about 4 weeks turn around. But they do say this is not a guaranteed time scale

You also need to fill in a LS01 (i think it's called) it's a lost passport declaration form & put that in with the new application.

Alternatively, buy a return ticket to Calais, pop over and throw away yer documents, come back and claim asylum. You'll soon get a new one.

I renewed my daughters recently using the check and send option through the post office and it was hand delivered back in 3 days!!! The expired passport took longer to get back. I was astonished

Why do people wait till the last minute to renew? It says when it expires, surely it would be better to renew it a couple of months before going anywhere?

You also need to fill in a LS01 (i think it's called) it's a lost passport declaration form & put that in with the new application.

It is allowed to renew a full six months before it espires, isn't it, running the remaining 10 and a half years.

Flying or Ferry ?

Aer Lingus take other photo ID ... or did when a neighbour travelled recently. Same with Ferry companies

I did say you need to fill in a lost passport form (available to download from the passport office website) and put it in with your new application. Same price as new passport, just under £80
