do you know what side your petrol cap is on???

my new pet peeve... people who go into a petrol station to fill up, park on the wrong side to the petrol cap, then spend time having to reverse out to then park the car on the right side.....

the amount of people who do this at petrol stations I use is quite funny......

if you look at the small symbol of a petrol pump on your dash, the hose on the pump is on the same side as your filler,

by the way i was in the motor trade 30 years and only just found this out

I know what side mine's on but if a petrol station is full I park on the other side and use the pump anyway. That's why they're made with long pipes right?? Or am I just being stupid?

No more modern cars where the picture of the pump is is an arrow showing you what side of the car the filler is(cue everybody grabbing keys and rushing out to check)

The pumps have a long enough hose to stretch across so you don't have to do that.

If you look at the likes of tescos they actually encourage you to use both sides of the pump no matter what side your cap is on! Bloody nightmare stretching it round your car !

I pull up onto the forecourt pull a handbrake turn so the car is sideways then the pump reaches either side

Problem solved

It's ok when the pumps have long enough hoses but not all of them do and end up battering off your car and then if they don't reach you look a right tit trying lol

I park at whichever pump is free, if you park near enough it'll reach easily around the other side. I can't believe some people sit for ages waiting for a pump that is the side of their cap when they could just fill up at a free pump on the other side.

I'm always flabbergasted that people will queue 10 deep for a right or left sided pump only, when there are other pumps free. It's so easy to pull the pipe over, so no need to reverse or queue.

Last time using the length of the pump hose to reach around to the offside of the car was mentioned, it was carnage.

Havent read the thread so probably mentioned.

If you look nr the petrol dial on the dash there may well be a little arrow head facing left or right. This indicates what side the petrol cap is.

Too late I've seen it!

There's not a hope in Hell that I'll stretch a petrol pump over my car. They're covered in all manner of muck and contaminants, not to mention petrol itself is a solvent and ruins paint/lacquer.

I'd much rather wait patiently for my turn and remain confident that my roof isn't going to need a respray.

People that wait for a particular pump are fine, as long as they don't block the whole forecourt while they are waiting.

The twats that rock up to a pay@pump only one and then FAFF about trying to press the pay at kiosk button shouldn't be allowed back on the road if their eyesight is that bad.

I know what side mine is on but I always go to whichever pump is free... The hoses always stretch far enough to get to the other side of the car anyway

People that que for the pump which is on there cap side get my goat... Unless they drive a van or a wide car of course

What's the point in waiting for a particular pump when there are free pumps, the hose reaches easily if you park properly. People don't wait for a particular cashier or window at the bank if another is free! I've often filled up, paid and driven off when people who were in front of me are still waiting.
