I have just moved up to Glasgow and I agree, I never known a place with so many traffic lights, and they seem to be on red for ages,all the best to Scotland though.

the common wealth games ?its going to be hard delivering to customers in and around the city due to all the stupid diversions and games lanes only that have appeared all over , cost you £50 if you stray into them , i suppose its the only way they will make the event financially viable by relieving people of their hard earned cash. All the games really amount to is a bunch of folk from country's that england used to own as part of its empire running about for a few days , cant Waite til it buggers off to somebody else's country.

its a chance to showcase to city and get more events in the future...

manchester did a brilliant job, so did london, I am sure glasgow will do just fine...

I hope with the legacy london left, they would bid to have a commonwealth games here in the future as most of the things are in place.....

I'm looking forward to the opening ceremony and seeing some of the people from Team GB (now representing their respective countries) such as Nicola Adams again.

I'm really interested to see the new talent that comes forward as they might be the people we are cheering on at the next Olympics in two years.

As for the Games Lane stuff and getting around, London is more complex than Glasgow and we managed just fine for the Olympics.

This is also the chance for the UK individual nations to get behind their own local talent and we don't have to have the conversations about well, they're really Scottish/Welsh/NIrish/English.

It's also a useful reminder of just how many nations make up the Commonwealth and why so many see the UK as home because of that colonial legacy.

It's got to be better than the World Cup in terms of winning and medals too.

I'm looking forward to it. I enjoy the amateur side of it. It like that their are people who work full tine competing against world famous names. I like the fact that there is a Ghanian cyclistcwho 6 months ago had never even seen a velodrome (and inevitably similar stories in other sports). And I like thecfact that after the embaressment of Brazil we can celebrate success in countless other sports.

I must admit the opening ceremony was equal parts a teeth itching cringe fest and uplifting.

The bits where they drove Captain Jack Harkness around tiny replicas of Scottish landmarks whilst he sung and talked in a Scottish accent were surreal and my cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. I did enjoy Amy McDonald singing, shame Rod Stewart had to butt in.

Any way opening ceremonies are always a bit 'difficult' to get through, so no change here.

I'm sure the games will be a great success for Glesga and Scotland.

Was hoping they would sing Flower of Scotland, but fully understand why they didnt.

A few bummer points for me

Judo. No probs with the sport, used to do a bit myself but stop that facing woman screeching when she commentates, shes a tit.

The BBC were showing live hockey last night, a short corner is awarded (so somethings going to happen), they left and went to the Judo hall and start filming the contestants walking from the changing rooms - they didnt fight until 4 minutes later. Dickheads, could of stayed with the hockey for 3 minutes.

I wasnt over impressed with BBC's 'day at the games' thingy last night on BBC 1, seemed a bit akward, probably be better for tonight.

I thought that Scottish dude who didnt win the swimming but should of needs to grow up, didnt seemed to show enough respect to his fellow competators and supports in defeat. I get the bit where he says 'he trains to finish first not second' but even so.

Loved it apart from opening ceremony.. Red button was a great idea i know 2012 did it first but yeah i loved all the coverage..

I was dissapointed - but Im biased.

My sport is hockey and I thought I would have plenty to watch in the evenings. The one night they had it on they were sharing it with Judo (which was on most nights while it ran (first few days).

Eng v Trinidad and Tabago, Eng get a short corner and they announce we are returning to the Judo hall, they filmed the judo'ists walking out the changing room and shaking hands etc, this was almost 3 mins till the bout started. If they had stayed for 1 more minute we would of seen the short corner and a good chance of a goal or a save.

Yesterday, Netball BBC 3, Hockey on bbc website.

Netball is still a single sex sport, Im guessing Hockey is more popular due to both sex's. This isnt a bash at Netball.

Tv coverage of hockey has long been dreadful on all channels.

The commentators spend the whole time trying to justify and explain what is going on and how it differs from football and anyone with the slightest interest in hockey is left feeling patronised

I had tickets for the hockey men's finals, the matches were brilliant but only England got on tv and the final between Australia and India was ignored.

I loved the cycling road races yesterday, the men's in particular was brutal. It was great to see Cav in the Isle of Man team car.

That circuit was used for the national championships last year and has produced 4 excellent races. Glasgow should be lobbying for the world championships to be held there. It would be incredible racing

And also Jo Pavey in the athletics - truly awe inspiring

Tickets for the badminton in Thursday and Friday

Have to say that everything was brilliantly organised from the transport to the Clydesiders enthusiasm

This showcased Glasgow at its best

I had a ticket to the athletics last Thursday and had a great time. Everything was well organised, free transport into Glasgow, free train to Hampden Park, friendly and helpful staff. Great Games Glasgow

You must be buzzing over the Welsh girl picking up the special award.

Retiring at 23 and now going to put it all back into coaching and mentoring.

She is so shy it seems (try saying that with a lisp) but she must be in a differnt world when she is preforming.

I apologise for not remembering her name and not googling it. Well done Wales

Wasn't that amazing? And such a lovely young lady too. I wish I was there Saturday now but I was there to see David Weir win gold so very happy about that. Wales did far better than they predicted, well done indeed

From memory I think they said it had only been awarded 4 times previous and its not just because your the best at your sport. At 23 she has already done a lot away from the gym. The guy presenting it was really happy for her and Wales, that seemed genuine.

Come on Cardiff, take a gamble, make a bid

I'd a brilliant time at various venues and also down at the BBC pacific quay- as did everyone I chatted too.......not meaning to be too harsh on the original 2 posters in this forum, but I hope Glasgow won them round and that they eventually considered the disruption to their lives was worth it?
