Part 2, how many parts is there now?

I know it was made harder to stop poeple hopping on a 750 after passing thier test, it still seem.it is too easy to pass your car test and then get in a powerful car.

First you do CBT then theory test.. Then after lessons you do a part one at a test centre then part 2 on the road .. Then you're done!! And yes.. The new rules have lowered the death rate by 50%! So all good

I have a learning difficulty and would struggle with learning how to concentrate on everything whereas a moped you've just got the throttle and breaks haha

I find it a bit confusing now. I took a full test and failed and now have to sit theory, cbt and then a road test. Im not sure what it is I dont understand, but Id like to get lots of experience before doing a test, to know that I would be good and safe as a solo rider. I dont think I could do solo though, before a Road test?

You have to do a CBT before you can go on the road. Then you can ride a learner legal 125 with L plates for 2 years. But I'd recommend lessons straight away before you pick up bad habits

Do your test soon as possible (the bike school will let you know your ready) then after that go back with the school for some enhanced rider lessons.

That way they can teach you more real world stuff rather than strictly how to ride to a test.

They're good had an instructor ride infront and he was just rattling off over the radio to me exactly what he was doing and thinking the while time. Helps you pick up some of the how not to die tips quicker lol.

Was quite amazed just how well he could read traffic and just who was going to try and kill him next lol

L did her test in 08 on the restricted bike, we bought her a 535 virago which technically when new is overpowered for the license, but as it was old we simply had it dyno tested and it came in at 32 bhp did her well for the 2 years, she has since been all over Europe and Scandinavia on her 900, so don't be held back by the restriction if you pass those 2 years get behind you pretty quickly.

For any one not sure of the new laws on bike tests check out the dvla website as there is no longer a 33 bhp restriicton for 2 years

Lol the naked will keep your speed down and be good fun. But that same engine in a daytona frame and fairings is an absolute beast saying only 675 cc is a big misconception in sports bike terms that's still way above nearly every non super car you meet on the roads in terms of top speed and acceleration.

It's 47 now iirc and you have to sit your test again at the end of it to move up.

That sounds like the route i took years ago, for me it is the best way to learn. You have loads of experience, before getting your big bike. You also go up the cc range slower or I did, after passing my test I got a VR400, then RF600 then the rocket of a bike the R6.

Haha yeah 5 hat engine will do 160 in he daytona don't know about the street though probbaly s lot less but anything over 80 is gonna strain you neck a lot

When I had an er6n as a courtesy bike I found for motorway cruising feet on the passenger pegs lie down on the task and head behind the instruments chin on the yoke was the way to go for motorway cruising lok

Hope you keep it on stands for that little milage or your gonna be ruing your tyres.

Do you at least give it a run on the stands/in the garage each week to keep it all moving while its sat up?

Oh and never own a ducati you'll be changing cam belts every few weeks at that rate lol.

Good lad, number of fair weather riders who leave em sat on the ground is worrying.

Suzuki though as long as you keep it out the wet tend to be solid. How you find the empty tank always been told keep it full to save condensation rotting the tank.

my bikes always been work horses though so avoid 5 his issue

I have a 96 RF 900, just commuting to work and back I do 1200 miles a month. All of my bikes from the DT 125, to the R6 got used every day as they were my only mode of transport. In the first 3 years I had the R6 I clocked 32k miles on it, but the living in merseyside and heading up to Kirkby Lonsdale, or over to Matlock Bath most weekends soon clocks the mileage up.

I tend to clock up 15,000 mile a year on my main bike,and about 5000 on the others. I take one riding holiday a year where I travel alone at my own pace and clock up about 8000 in a 2 week ride. Strange how incredulous the bike shops / insurance companies are at the high mileage yet if it was a car they would not blink at that sort of mileage.

Question is, how far did Paddymax77 ride this weekend? new bike should be going in for it's first service on Monday if the OP has been lucky enough to have the same weather we have in Bristol

Last new bike I picked up I arranged a day off work, picked it up at 8:30 took it back at 5:30 for the 600 mile service

did the first 4000 miles in the next week bike shop was a bit stunned

If you already have a car licence, do you still have to do a theory? Passed a car test way back in 87

Of course if you just want a 50cc moped for nipping to the shops/short commuting and you took your full car test before Feb 2001 you do so legally without L Plates/CBT/Theory Test

If you took your Car test post Feb 2001 you can ride a 50CC moped without L plates until your car licence expires providing you take your CBT

Passed mine on a Kawasaki KH250, in the days when the examiner walked around the test course. Wish I had kept the bike, they are selling for silly money these days, bet the old Suzi's are now worth a bit too.
