Male managers

I believe that male managers have it so much harder than female. Being a manager is already hard but the pc brigade make it so much harder for men.

Any disgruntled female employee can turn almost anything into a potential case.

Your thoughts....

a good manager is a good manager regardless of gender...

my business is leadership and performance management and in my opinion, there is no difference.

if you are good, you are good.

it's starts at the top and the role modelling they do and it cascades through the organisation..

but I would recognise that some very, very talented female managers/leaders think they need to adopt an alpha male approach and that is sad to see.

most would get on just on their raw talent.

I prefer working for a woman.

I don't think it's any harder for men, not where I work that's for sure & I've worked for both male & female bosses.

Okay so you can't slap the ladies on the arse & call them love or dear by the same token I can't press myself up against the male intern whilst he's making the tea...

.

Managers face different challenges in different jobs, I think in the same roles, male and female managers will also face different challenges but overall I don't think any gender has it easier.

Something I know I need to get worked out is that fact that i have found jobs less enjoyable when my boss has been female!

As noted above I actually prefer working for men (although socially I generally get on better for men)

Not for one second saying it isn't possible, but the women I've worked for have been very insecure in themselves (yet career driven) and thus REAL micro managers and not team players. My male bosses have all been incredibly (maybe even too) relaxed.

Again, not saying it isn't possible for the complete reverse of that to be experienced by others..... That's just my experience

Oh and I'm a manager myself.

I get where the original poster was coming from, but having been a manager (who is young, not face-of-a-slapped-arse-ugly) of plenty of women, I've been cautious of the years about how 'easy' it could be for a woman to lay down sexual harassment claims against an innocent male manager. Here's what I have learned...

1) A good manager creates a positive work atmosphere where more often than not, all people - women included - are happy.

2) A good manager will manage poor performance directly and clearly with anyone not meeting standards, and this will be documented for everyone's benefit.

3) At no point, will a good manager touch a work colleague in a way that could be construed in a manner even bordering unprofessional.

I'm sure there are legit stories of 100% innocent blokes being taken for a ride by opportunistic, selfish women. I'm sure that this accounts for .001% of workplace sexual harassment claims and that most of them, were probably initiated or at least invited by inappropriate touching or comments towards female staff.

#RANT
