I think many 'think' they know.

But can you actually know someone you haven't met? Surely all you've created is a picture in your head based on forum posts, profiles and pictures? And perhaps the opinions of others and third hand chit chat/gossip/graffiti on toilet doors.

You can never judge a person in font, people are totally different in real life

Anyone can write stuff, because you are just looking at a screen, when it comes to looking into someone eyes, it's a different kettle of fish

to a certain degree yes as some people are very open on here so you have an insight into their lives.

but it's also easier to be 'someone else' in the virtual world as you have the control over what information is delivered for others to read.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'm too self centred to register most people, although there are a few forum posters who insist on providing us with blow by blow details of every drama in their lives. But my memory is so bad these days I just about remember usernames when I meet people in real life. Its a concern.

No but the forums do give away a lot about how a person thinks, their sense of humour, their personality & if they are on my level of wrirdness

so for me personally it is a great place to get to know, flirt and chat to see if i'd like to meet someone socially and/or to play

"yes, I can almost guess what people will post "

This is true of most of the regular forumites , but whether this means one truly knows them is debatable .

It's so easy to adopt a different persona behind a keyboard , and this can be entirely different to the true personality of the individual in reality .

There are plenty on here , including ourselves , where judgement is made from forum posts .

But unless we have met someone face to face , we never really know them properly .

The forum is also a place to display the things about us that we want others to see....

It is a place of deception and freedom where we can be something that we are not normally.

Or it is a place to bare your sole.....take your pick but there is no substitute for person to person.....everything else is an illusion

I reckon Diamond is a nice reliable friendly lady.

She's up for a laugh but wont let you take liberties.

What you see is what you get, and she doesn't put on any aires and graces.

Can laugh at herself but there are also some signs of her insecurities, although she hides them well, she'll let you know if you over step the mark

Black&White Utopia

Think you can get the ' feel' for a person ( or the person they want you to feel!) but know them properly no, not till you have met someone face to face.

Some do thrive on drama and tell the world all their life history.

Takes all sorts amazes me the stuff some disclose , sometimes without realizing perhaps?!
