No, he died a few hours ago and the cause of death is unknown.

Back in the day, I seem to remember murmurings of discontent among outraged moralists who complained that the actor who played the farther in the Rockford Files would have been too young for that situation to happen in real life... apparently the real-life age gap between Rockford Snr and Rockford Jnr would've meant Rockford Snr must of had his end-away when he was underage.....

RIP James.... I remember watching your shows as part my weekly routine....

can remember the theme tune to the rockford files being plyed as the first tune over the tannoy at boundary park pre game in the early 80s

According to many of the racing drivers involved in making that film he had the talent to be a professional racing driver.
