I've often wondered this and concluded that begging must be considered attractive to some

Sometimes people are lonely. Hardly anyone replies to mail, and some are downright rude.

If they get a polite reply it just reminds them that some people are nice. They try to keep chatting just to have some human contact. No harm in that.

If you reply once with a "no thanks", no need to reply again if you don't want to.
