I'm such a stickler for manners! Today I stopped and let several people past whilst walking on a pavement.., no thanks! I know perhaps we are renowned for being overly polite in the UK but it really does annoy me.

Is there anything wrong in expecting please, thank you, excuse me and all the other polite niceties, especially if they have children with them?

I've noticed that when you hold a door open or let a car go etc, very few people say thanks these days, sad really. I always like to say thank you rather loudly when holding a door for someone who doesn't say it!

I'm like you - same thing if I put my hand up to a driver who lets me thru and they just look past you. Hold a door open for no thanks. I find people are happy to look down on you these days rather than just reciprocating the kindness

I usually offer a very sarky 'Your Welcome' when these rude bastards do this.

Manner costs fuck all and its got fuck all to do with replying to a message on here.

I Once held a door open for a lady. She went mad and said I was being patronising as she was a woman I pointed out I would have held it open for a man as well as I have manners.

I wish Id slammed it in her face!

Things just are not what they used to be. In my day old people were carried aloft on a sea of well meaning members of the public and children were executed if they transgressed with their manners. Nowadays... nothing. It sickens me. Bloody young people.

The world is going to hell in a handcart. It was never like this in my day, it was the metric system etc etc.

Aye. Typically health and safety did for it. And europe. Immigrants as well. This country is not what it was. Makes you sick. It is a government conspiracy.
