"I prefer to ride on my own, I always have headphones in though. I only get pissed off when stray dogs start chasing you." I couldn't ride with earphones in, the cars would sneak up on you lol

" I only get pissed off when stray dogs start chasing you." I had that a while back whilst riding up a hill in the middle of nowhere, never ridden the hill so fast! Like others, I like the fact I get my own space away from everything. Mostly I cycle alone, sometimes though I will cycle with one of my cycling buddies & occasionally I will do the ladies club ride. I am lucky to live in a beautiful part of the country, so see great views (esp when guys pass me on their bikes and I get to perve their pert bottoms!) It's social too, generally cyclists will say hello or even have a chat as they pull alongside you.

"So somebody asked on another thread what is it that people enjoy about cycling, couldn't find it so started my own I did a group ride last night and hated it, made me realise the thing I love about cycling is the solitude, just me on my own no phone nobody around me just me and my own thoughts for a couple of hours is heaven, and the scenery around here" Apart from the five cars stuck behindd you in third gear wondering when /if they can get past on a country road. Oh what joy.

"I love riding with friends and that social coffee and cake half way through. On your own its a good head clearer. What i really love is when you go out hard and fast and you get home knackered and have to lie down before you even have your shower. All hot and sweaty and feeling virtuous at the same time" This

"I think all cyclists should ride single file and also pay tax and insurance " I knew it would not be long before one of the neanderthal drivers would come on here with this rubbish. Why should we pay road tax, the current system in use today is based on emissions. The only emission coming from a cyclist is when they fart, in that case drivers would have to pay for that as well. As for Insurance you are covered on most household policies. As for it is the achievement of getting to the top of a hilk quicker or in a bigger gear than I did it last, the thrill of accelerating downhill at silly speeds. But you can't beat filtering through traffic knowing my little £450 cannondale is goung a lot faster than all the expensive cars that are stuck, we they get moving I am about 5mph down on thier speed as well.

" Love this, I hear you re' the hills. The first time I could climb my regular ride without going onto the small ring at the crank. Chuffed to fook. Also cracking the 20mph average for an 80 mile trip from Norwich to Lincoln last month. Not bad for a beginner on an off the shelf Boardman road.
