FabSwingers.com forum: HGV LICENCE.. ADVICE..?

Google this all day but loads of different information on it.

Does anyone have a Hgv licence if so how much does it cost? What's the work situation like and is it generally a good job or not?

I know of someone who got there's any now they drive around the continent!

Bit like asking how long is a piece of string OP. I've had my licence since 1996 but am not currently trucking. Wages and work depends on who employs you and what part of the country you are. ADR pays the best money but you need your hazchem licence. Truckers who tramp seem to earn the best money but they live in their cab all week!

I'm sure lads who are currently trucking will give you more help

between £1300-1700 depending on what level you go for class 2 ridgids or class 1 artics you have to do both .

work situaition is not brilliant need 2 years experiance to get took on full time but how do you get experiance if you cant get work

so its agency work unless you get lucky

the money isnt as good as it was

the hours are crap your treated like shit by most 'customers' hated by motorists and your a cash cow for vosa/dsa/police

other than that its a fun job

have to re do theory test & a medical before you can start lessons all at your expence

suggest you go on trucknet and ask on there

four days of lessons before 1 hour test
