Or, look for the serial number, and google problems with that hdd. | |||

"9 times out of 10 it's just your power pack that has gone which is inside the hard drive case. Take it to somewhere like Maplins and explain what has happened. There are devices you can buy to transfer your data. £25-£40" Yeah I got one. People call them "caddys". | |||

"I have a 1tg external hard drive. I plug it into the laptop and the laptop acknowledges that it is there but the hard drive itself doesnt do the whirry thing it usually does when it starts up. Can this be easily investigated and fixed? If not, is it possible to somehow get the information from it? thanks muchly in advance " Have you tried turning it on and off again? | |||
