When I grow up I wanna be a filmmaker. It's a dream I've had since I was 16. 12 years later and 3 international awards later I'm doing OK but it's such a tough industry to get into. I find myself wondering if I shouldn't give up and get a desk job, it would be easier.

Is there anyone else out there with a big dream they've struggled with for years and maybe succeeded, or not but still pushes forward?

How did you keep yourself going when all seemed impossible.

I found the film/TV industry fairly easy to get in to, putting up with the omni-arseholes and getting regular work without moving to London was an entirely different thing.

Get a well paid desk job, finance your own stuff and find people who want to get involved like Shane Meadows did- most of the industry sucks but if you're films are good they'll eventually find an audience and you can bypass most of the cockwombles who run it

I culdnt do a desk job... I tried... I hated it. I need to be out there, shooting, being creative. Its just tough.

Weirdly today though I had a conversation with a distribution company and cut a deal... looks like things are moving up
