Not a fan, the looks are dated, parts are expensive and they're not great to drive or particularly reliable.

Had the CRD version for a year, massive depreciation, poor economy, and servicing was a nightmare too some wouldn't touch it because they were prone to developing faults even after a major service, and the garages didn't want to be held liable for a car which was worse after they had serviced it. And its not as practical as you might think, fully loaded it handles very poorly and the trim was not to the standard I expect of a modern car. Back seats are awkward to move and load area is middling. Believe they are now discontinued because they were one of those problem designs which were rushed through to production stage without sorting the problems out beforehand.

It's Chevrolet who bought out Daewoo, they are getting out of the European small car market and concentrating on "traditional" Chevy markets.

I used to drive cars from dealership to dealership and they are on of the worst cars I have ever driven, and the fuel economy is crap.

they are based on the Chrysler neon which they had trouble selling because they where not very good,

so they put a fancy body on them in the hope of selling more and using the neon parts up

It was a remarkably sensual car on the outside and very alluring inside. And yes, interior details of the ones I saw today were all different. I was at the south of England show at the vintage, classic and steam rally. No Chrysler Neons or PT's

It depends if you want a car that was designed around the idea of a custom street rod but built for people who wanted to look cool but had no idea about customising, but did have enough money to buy stupid amounts of tacky chrome trim to glue and screw onto their car until it resembled the worst gypsy caravan ever made

There's a company that rebuild them from scratch with a brand new GM V8, modern brakes and suspension but keep the look. Now that would be cool.

One if the most ugly cars ever designed combined with low fuel economy and less than exciting performance can't see the point in them really

2.2 litre and 2.4 litre engines that can't achieve a 0-60 time under 10 seconds - yawn

PT cruisers are utter garbage. I wouldn't have one if it was given to me. 'Muricans can't make cars, their spanner sizes are all to pot for a start. German or Jap for reliability, some of the jap stuff is pretty funky too, like that cool little boxy shaped thing that I forget the name of

If it was made by Apple it would run on proprietary fuel and would refuse to work on the same roads as other cars. It would be very pretty, a marvel of design and ridiculously over-priced!

I have an X Type Jag diesel. Its a lovely car to drive, comfy for long drives. Also surprisingly good on twisty roads. £135 per year tax. £165 per year insurance. 40MPG. Very reliable, in 3 1/2 years the only thing to go wrong is a siezed brake caliper, which cost £180 to replace. You can pick a nice one up cheap as chips as everyone seems to think they cost a fortune to run.... they dont!

I'm looking at buying my 8th citroen/peugeot in the last 20 years. i'd estimate in total i've spent around £1500 on repairs and servicing in that time (excluding tyres but including things like discs/pads/exhausts).

They're good to drive, well spec'd and more reliable than you think and in general they're pretty cheap when something does go wrong (£40 for a new wheel bearing supplied and fitted by a pug/cit specialist).

While collecting it from the MOT last time, there was a guy picking up his Audi from repair and service and his bill was......£1500- same as mine for the last 20 years- and he was going to have to come back in 2 weeks later for something else.

Sounds like you've found a good specialist. After some of the issues I've seen with French cars (particularly Renault and Peugeot) I know I'll never have another one.

Ford sued Peugeot because their engines were so unreliable (when Ford fitted them to several models).

We all have favourites though, if it works for you, then fair dues....

I've had 3 pugs

107 at 17 clutch problems etc

1.4 207 - only kept it 5 months

207 S16 - now to say this was built to celebrate peugeots rally win in 2009 or 2010 it absolutely fell to pieces, not what you want from a model where they only built 250

I wouldn't have another pug given

Must depend on the engine, only have diesel and the current HDI is based on a 30year old design and very reliable. As with most engines, it helps to look after them, check fluid levels, try not to over rev, particularly cold. Although the best engine I had was a £500 xantia with 180k on it that I never checked or serviced in the 2 years I had it- it pulled like a train!

It's the HDI variant that Ford sued them over!

Also, you can't 'over-rev' an engine. They have limiters set at safe levels to stop you from doing it and on a modern diesel it's actually beneficial to give the engine some high rev action due to them having EGR valves, swirl flaps and DPF's.

Preventative maintenence is vital as is regular servicing with the correct spec'd oils and fluids (not all 10w-40 oils, for example, have the same spec. People often fail to check and use the wrong stuff).
