I was off work for six weeks after I had knee surgery ...

I have to admit I wasn't too happy to go back, but that's another story

3 months following an operation and soon to have another 3 to 6 months following another operation.

I would be able to go back earlier if i didnt do such a physical job.

Work cant complain as i need the operations due to being injured at work !

10 days is the longest I've been off when I had bronchitis. I've got a torn a ligament between the floating ribs in my back apparently. It felt like a stitch that just wouldn't go away. Mine isn't too bad now though, just slightly uncomfortable now and again.

Four months after someone decided to end it all and throw themselves under my train. I took his head clean off. I no longer do this job after two more similar incidents.

I saw that once and that was bad enough and I was a passenger.

Hearing him bump along on the underside of the train was the worst bit.

dealt with a Cpl of those, tbh I would not want the image of seeing them as they actually stepped out..

don't blame you for changing jobs..

That's why I changed jobs. I didn't go near the underground for months after I left.

Newcastle and Gateshead

8 weeks off when i management to contract conjunctivitis in both eyes at the same time... didn't know if the eyesight was ever coming back at one stage.... have to say that was the most interesting "welcome back" interview i've had where the woman in hr flippantly said "just as well it wasn't something serious!"... that point i almost lost it and just as well my line manage was there because she saw the look on my face....

other than that 3 weeks off when day surgery to remove my gall bladder went a bit aray... to the point I lost 8 pints of blood and was very very close to needing a blood transfusion and had to stay in for 2 weeks... have to say nicest hospital room i've ever stayed in though... the nurses were sweethearts because they didn't normally have people hang around after as long as i had to....
