I'd draw the line at doing it right before the marriage.

I could. Sex is not the be all, but you do run the risk of compatability issues.

I think it is a brilliant idea. It would either cut teenage pregnancies or increase the marriage & divorce rates of the under 20's.

I think the tales of woe we hear on here from partners with wildly mismatched sex drives and tastes makes enough of a case for sex to actually be compulsory before marriage, and sexual honesty to be even more compulsory (if there are degrees of compulsory )

"Would you buy a pair of shoes before trying them on first?"

I can't believe a woman is asking that

And to the OP the answer is no! You beed to know you're compatible sexually otherwise you could have a very boring sex life for the rest of your life!

A very good of of mine waited until she was married. More from fear than anything religous. She got married at twenty one and is still married twenty three years later and from what I can tell she is very happy.

She's quite filthy as well.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I know people who waited until they were married. They are all still together and from the women who lunch chats they appear to have happy sex lives.

I've never been married and at this stage in my life I can't see me every getting married but for the right relationship I think I could wait.

I wouldn't want to wait, if I love someone I want to share everything with them immediately not wait for the state to sanction the commencement of our sex life.

Nothing to see here. Please move along.

I was abandoned when i was 6 weeks pregnant. I started seeing the man who was to be my second husband when i was 4.5 months. I wouldnt have sex with him till my daughter was 6 weeks old. I waited cos i couldnt have sex with one man while i was carrying anothers child. I dont know if i could do the same for marriage

A friend of mine was engaged to a catholic girl, he abstained for seven months then found out she was sleeping with three married blokes, one of them her brother-in-law.

i doubt many other's would be so twisted but it seems a little odd, maybe dated? unless you're both of the same faith?

either way, bollocks to that! What if on your wedding night the sparks went out? Some people just aren't compatible.

I was a virgin bride. My youngest is 22 and her boyfriend 21. Both devout Christians and virgins. They've been dating for four years and saving themselves for marriage.

I wouldn't buy before I try now though.

The very thought of marriage didn't happen till years after I'd been shagging.

No. (Mainly because I'm not religious, but) I know sex SHOULDN'T be the be all and end all but I can't imagine anything more depressing than legally binding myself to someone who either turns out to have a very low sex-drive or who isn't compatible with me in the bedroom.

Sure, you can masturbate but it's not the same.

I become one Hell of a Bitch when I'm not being properly satisfied.

it's interesting that we all still consider waiting to have sex with someone until it's sanctioned by religion or the state to be an option. I also wonder what our respective definition of sex is, I count any sexual contact at all as sex but some people might just define penetration as sex and everything else would be ok.

I'm not disrespecting anyones views on this its a very personal thing.
