The Complicated Compliment Conundrum.

There's a lot of compliment the above threads about and it's harmless fun. After all its nice to get a self boosting compliment from a random stranger.

So do you compliment people in person in reality ? Why not ?

i complimented my ex boss on how lovely her grand daughter was.

She took my daughter and showed her around her new school and played together, was lovely to watch. Think children are often only talked about for negative reasons so thought id make the effort to praise the young girl for being so kind

You need to come to Leeds First Friday with me and assist me in observing what people are wearing

Mind you last time I was there, this girly had got on the same dress as I had. I nearly died.

I compliment people in real life sometimes I mean it, and sometimes I don't. I don't feel I'm being false, but sometimes people need a bit of confidence or something to feel good about themselves and me helping them feel like that isn't a bad thing

Good question. I don't see many people other than family most days. I might tell someone their hair looks nice if I notice it's been cut or coloured. I don't really take notice of what people wear. I suppose the most I compliment would be the men I see now and then and that would usually be because they smell nice. One did come to me wearing a lovely 3 piece suit once. That got a compliment because he looked really smart

I work in a very busy tourist based business and people are so often shuttled around with no time to chat and interact so can appear to be going through the motions. I enjoy the smiles on their faces when say something like "I love the colour of your hair" or "that's a gorgeous necklace". At first they're surprised to have something more than a perfunctory greeting then usually get a really big smile and I can tell they're pleased to be talked to as a person rather than just another customer to be served as quickly as possible. Other people I work with say how can you be so nice and smiley all the time, because we do have to cope with a lot of rude people, but I say it helps me to feel better as well as the customers. If you can make someone smile their smile is infectious and you catch it too
