colposcopy (ladies only, sorry)

Ok, I know some of you (you know who you are!) Will say why are you asking this on a swingers site and not your GP, but tough, I know plenty of women have been through this!

I had this and a biopsy 2 weeks ago, I did play 5 days later and I did bleed (sorry guys) I wasn't shocked (embarrassed slightly), however, I am on the implant, and I haven't had a period in over 6 years and have started bleeding tonight for no reason (nothing heavy), would this be something that would concern you or would you think it was completely unrelated? Sorry to ask the question but I was just wondering if it was a common side effect?

I had this done 7 years ago and I bleed on and off for a while later.

I rung doctors to let them know though because they always like to check you out. Xx

To be honest they should have told you all the side affects when you had it done. If not then shame on them. I would say you are better off calling to talk to your gp in the morning or phone nhs direct.

They are doing colposcopies on guys these days? No wonder the NHS is struggling

But it's not really an op, it was only a slight nick to the cervix (in a small area) no other treatment was required as nothing really worrying was found, Just a bit surprised to have bleeding more than a week after play.....And more than 2 weeks after biopsy, thanks will just put it down to a side effect x

i have not got a lot of experience with this, but i have had a little! i think it hadnt healed properly, but if you leave it alone you will go back to normal. the procedure wouldnt have effected your period and the implant is still doing its job. call them and ask what they think, just in case.

No the leaflet only said this if after laser treatment, not a biopsy, so I did what the instructions said

Normal waiting time after a cervical biopsy is 1/2 weeks as the cervex needs time to heal .

I had this done a few years back anf was warned about bleeding. While you are healing inside there is also a scab forming. It could be to do with that.

No its 2 weeks for biopsy, 4 for the laser. Ive had both done twice andgot given a letter afterwards everytime

Playing before 2 weeks post biopsy and your putting yourself at risk of infection... A biopsy isnt a major procedure i know but its still a wound and needs a clean.environment to heal well, having sex and even swimming and give you an infection.

Give gp or coloposcopy suite a call and maybe get some antibiotics.

I have been through 3 x biopsy now and having an operation tomorrow for lletz treatment do i know i am out of action for 4 wks minimum.

I would get it checked if I was you, I was told to refrain from sex for 2 weeks following a biopsy, the cervix is very sensitive and can take a while to heal.

Hopefully it's something and nothing.

Never be afraid to ask advice or for help. The cervical screening we have and your biopsy is a great tool to.keep you healthy.

Jo's Trust is a good website for advice and information too .... Look after yourself x

Did you have the area cauterised as part of your colposcopy? If so you have an open wound and bleeding is normal for 4-6 weeks after!

Sex is not recommended until you've fully healed.

No just a small biopsy (being honest) no other worries being expressed, but concerned of unexpected bleeding 2 weeks after the fact,I will phone the docs if overly concerned but so far it is normal x

I'm due one in a couple of weeks... so am going to reschedule mine as its a couple of days before our childfree week off!!!

But as has been said before need to leave it a couple of weeks. Cervix could be irrated after the biopsy so can bleed a while after but yes call just to see if its normal or not x

I would say it's best to check this out sooner rather than later ~ bright blood is new as opposed to dark blood from a healing wound.

It could be something simple as having thrush which can irritate the lining of the cervix causing a bleed.

If it was just a colposcopy then you can have sex 24 hours later. However if they did a biopsy and laser treatment they say to wait 6 weeks. I had this done again in March. I had sex three months later and bled and it was painful, as my FWB hit my cervix. It can take a bit of time to settle going from my experience last year and this time.

It's a very sensitive area and we all differ in healing times, but I would certainly get checked out just to put my own mind at ease

Oh dear hon, they say don't use tampons either. Give the colposcopy nurse a ring. They are usually really helpful.

Just use a a panty liner hun ~ no tampons for a few weeks....basically nothing should be up there for while & you'll be fine x

During this time and when you have your period you will need to use sanitary towels rather than tampons. It is also best to avoid heavy exercise and not to have sexual intercourse. These measures allow the cervix to heal as quickly as possible.

So all normal in regard to the bleeding but you need to stop having sex for a couple of weeks and def stop using tampons xxx
