Just watched it after recording it last night? Did anyone else watch? If so what are you thoughts on it?

cheltenham

If he'd cheated without dragging everyone else through the dirt with him I'd think a lot better of him. It's a miracle the guys alive really, and steroids or no steroids he still had to train like a beast, especially in an era where the majority were doping. Shame really, gave a lot of hope to a lot of people

I watched it and like a lot of sportsmen and women his desire to win made him an unpleasant person when competing. But he did win Tours at a time when most riders were on performance enhancing drugs. The only part of the whole affair where he comes out on top is the fact he raised an awful lot of money for cancer charities.

He did no different to all of his rivalries. His mistake was that he was an arrogant bully.

Speaking as one of his legion of fans (used to be anyway) it's sad when you find out someone you believed in and trusted that he was telling the truth.

To learn the lengths he went to was shocking, and the fact that he did not care who he hurt along the way Inc friends made it worse.

Liar and a cheat.

I just didn't know how to take it, people just seemed to want to put a but after everything, yeah he took drugs but, yeah he cost a man his job but, even the guy who made the documentary started out saying he was angry but still tried to be on his side

The guy was just absolutely ruthless in his goal to be the best and woe be tide anybody who got in his way.

It's a shame that he Couldn't of done it clean,

because regardless of the drugs the guy came back from cancer to race again, I know he was doped up but the hope that gave people who were ill themselves at that time and until he was ousted was immense.

In my book deserves some credit at least for that .

saville also raised a lot of money for charities..

now before anyone starts harrumphing and blustering I am in no way putting Armstrong in anywhere near the same category of what saville did..

however where do you draw the line?

it was only doping..

it was only taking a bung..

it was only cheating..

once you start saying yes but everyone else does it so its the 'norm' then that sport is tainted and loses credibility..

The Livestrong lie is the most sickening part of Armstrong's legacy. It was always self promotion - let's not lose sight of the fact that the $millions if not $billions raised promoted cancer awareness not cancer research. Or the fact that among the many dodgy dealings Livestrong leased a private jet owned by another of Armstrong's company's that was solely used by Armstrong and not the charity. But no one could accuse a cancer survivor of cancer who raised millions for cancer of being anything other than a saint could they?

I was appalled at his sanctimony in the press conference when a Telegraph hack asked him a question. It was amazing a halo didn't form round his doped up head.

Cheating bastardo. But....... He was world champ clean.then everyone doped he dropped off the pace so he either dopes like he did or he could've ranted about the drugs others were on. He wasn't the big figure then had no clout to cause a stink.he would've been ignored. So he dopes, he was still the best of the dopers if u want so he was still the best in a fucked up way.

It does take a special type of bell to be as blatant as he was at denying it tho....

Armstrong was no way clean when he won the worlds! There are rumours he was doping as a triathlete while still in his teens!

Obviously we can't mention Sean Yates, very much in the Armstrong inner circle and former SKY DS because Yates was a Brit and it's just not cricket to dope

An insightful input but I think it's safe to say that of all the things Armstrong was, he certainly wasn't typical

Armstrong's World's win was a brilliant ride as was his stage win in the tour the following year. His first tour win was the stuff of hollywood but even thenm I never warmed to him as a cyclist or as a person. No class, no humility and no real style.

I hate what he has done to cycling and the thought of him ending up an outcast from the sports he loves (it's not just cycling, he can no longer run marathons or do triathlon both of which have featured since retirement) and potentially bankrupt is karma at it's sweetest

Not trying to defend him at all , but there were drug cheats before and after Armstrong, and I hasten to say still are in the peloton, and it's not only cycling didn't a certain Spanish tennis player get mentioned in connection with the doctor Ferrari who was instrumental in us postal service drug program,

people always will want to take short cuts to improve its human nature.

I dont think its so much the cheating, As you say its rampant in all high earning sports its the fact that the man cynically attempted to shift the blame from himself without a care for those that had been close and trusted him

There's so much money and pressure on athletes to perform consistently sometimes when things aren't working it's an easy option , with massive consequences if caught . Look at Ferdinand punditing on BBC he was banned for missing drug test and his reasoning was pretty lame.

Actually it was Dr Fuentes (not Ferrari) and Operation Puerto that was linked to the Spanish teams that the various other sportsmen including many prominent Spanish tennis Players and footballers were linked to.

Those who say 'but everyone was doping' miss a very important point - that not everyone responds equally to PED's. One person may use EPO and gain a 2% improvement, Hamilton claimed Armstrong gained over 7% improvement and that is a HUGE gain when measured against his competitors.

Ultimately though it is his psychopathic behaviour that brought him down, his supreme arrogance and his desire to continue manipulating people just for his own amusement (Andreu), it was his hubris that caused his fall & it will be that which bankrupts him hopefully.

I think that it is sad that he misused his potential. Certainly seemed a lot of nastiness between him and associates. Some people dont know when to stop.
