Truro

How many of you switch them on everytime you get in the car?

Our neighbour programs his for every journey, even for trips to Truro and it's a 4 mile drive down the only road going to Truro from where we live.

Manchester Area

I (fem) only put it on for journeys that I know can have problems with traffic or if an area or place I don't know

Brighton - even Hove!

Not very often. Easy enough to read road signs and google maps before I go.

I've forgotten where mine is! Only really need it if I'm heading somewhere I don't know, although must admit I'll usually check the route out first on googlemaps and if I need directions when I get near I'll used the nav on my phone

Cardiff

Ive never had one except the app on my phone, I still print directions out off AA.com but the app on my phone kind of reassure's me Im going the right way.

Fantastic invention though. I love these new cars out where it's like a standard feature on the dash, haha I still remember push button radio's. You'd push a button and the needle would jump an inch or so in either direction.

We use it for clubs and parties or trips somewhere new. I always have a look at maps too as back up. I turn it off when we get on the roads that I recognise. It's taken us to some very interesting places.

In Your Bush

I use mine more as a time predictor, as it's great knowing if I can dawdle or not.

There's a big road sign just outside Redruth that says "TURN LEFT - IGNORE YOUR SATNAV"

If you follow your satnav you would join the A30 driving into the on coming traffic

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

I use mine as a guide to my arrival time at my destination, especially when I`m meeting someone and I need to give them a progress report.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I can't abide them. I draw a map on a bit of paper when I go anywhere

notts

if you want problem with a sat nav, just buy a peugeot with one built in.

when you want to put a post code in, all it accepts is the first 2 letters and 3 numbers.... so if you want to go to for example NG11 9NG it will only let you put in NG11 9

complete waste of feckin time & effort

I only put it on when I'm going somewhere I'm unsure about, but I don't trust it entirely, as it has a tendency to take the shortest route, which is sometimes not the best route.

I do however, like to have the 'map' on at times when not using it as a satnav; it also reminds me of the local speed limit.

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

I'll stick mine on tomoz when I go to Blackers, but I know the route and I use it more as a reminder of speed limits rather than getting me to my destination...I don't put it on if I'm just driving round Arse End locality

Central

I have an ancient one, that like early mobiles were huge. It gets used occasionally, but is not updated and has less features than new ones. Id like traffic warnings. It is now cheaper to buy a phone only to be used as a satnav than get a specific device for it. Not sure if mobiles are as good for traffic warnings though, so any info is great
