It says a lot about him when asked in a inter_iew eight years ago who do you want to win the world cup. His replay was (with him wearing a Paraguayan shirt) "anybody but England" That statement alone shows you how British he is, not! Do you want Scotland , wales or Northern Ireland to win everytime they play ? It's called rivalry. It's what makes sport interesting. Why would a jock want England to win ? It doesn't make him any less British. I didn't really like him before but when he came out with the anybody but England statement I respected him a lot more. It shows he knows what rivalry in sport is all about. Why did it upset you so much ? I agree with most of what you have said. Rivalry amongst the home countries is great sport, jokes etc. From my personal _iew of things (my personal _iew) when all else fails as England normally do. I lean towards one of the home countries. That to me is been part of Britain. If Scotland was playing Russia i would be proud to say been English i would be supporting Scotland.
