My name is Jay in real life but I do understand some people are nervous putting their name out there, but in that case I would suggest that you don't put a name on your profile but only give to people as you feel comfortable

I give my real name if I am chatting to someone, I don't see the point in starting off with a lie x

We always use our real names with people we meet. Scarlet isn't my real name.

I can never remember other people's names. Doesn't bother me if they only ever give me a pretend name.

Kent

My name isn't on my profile as I live in a tiny town and anyone happening to be browsing would probably realise it was me as it's not a massively common name. But anyone I've met knows it (or nearly knows it as an amusing incident at the hotel reception on Saturday proved)

But even at socials etc most people call me hottie or HotBot anyway. And there's a few on here I know their real names but am so used to referring them by fab names I don't ever use their real names x

I don't use my real name anywhere on the internet. The only people who know it are those I have met in person, but even some of them call me TD.

Facebook didn't. They wanted me to provide a driver's license as proof of it.

I can't remember your real name no matter how many times I'm told.

Various friends of mine call me screen names, the name depending on which site they know me from.

Start a page rather than a profile. Pages can be used for characters and I know a lot of performers who have FB pages.

When I message I always sign off with my real name, though it isn't on my profile, rarely though do they respond using my name ( after 5 years in some cases ) but hey ho getting a message is better than not, even if they can't remember or be bothered to use my name arff arff;-)

I use a ridiculous name on FB that clearly isn't real, but never had any issues with it.

I shorten my name, mainly because it is very rare and I work in education. I really wouldn't want the school kids to know.

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

Caz is short for Carolyn which is my real name, however, I go by a nickname based on my maiden (yep, I was one once) name...a few Fabsters know it and I'm not at all bothered about it being "out there" with folk I've met, but I'm now that used to introducing myself as Caz, I often don't give the nickname out
