How about spending quality time with your kids? Just a thought....a lot of mothers who work full time would gladly swap with you, I'm sure.

The way it was said sounds like she has lots of free time when kids are at school but when they are off,it restricts her meets.

I'm sure all parents enjoy free time from their kids. And in 6 weeks time I could possibly sympathise with the OP a little more, but complaining before the summer holidays have even began - seriously?

The use of 'lol' doesn't make a comment instantly acceptable

Why jumping down the OPs throat and accusing her of putting meets before her children?? I think this was meant to be a light hearted post that instantly gets jumped on. Jeez - no wonder only 1% of users only post in the forums. The rest are shit scared of saying the wrong thing! Nobody knows the OPs circumstances. She may work full time and rely on child care during term time, making it difficult for her to get childcare during the holidays. Personally I'm always glad when the 6 week break is over with. Doesn't make me a bad parent. Just one that knows going into work is a doddle compared with entertaining kids 24/7.

Oh please. Nobody jumped down her throat if it was meant as a joke I've heard funnier. There are other things to joke about that would be funny. .... and for the record I work with kids and so working and being with kids 24/7 is my life. Dearie me, why does everyone assume that "kids" mean cute seven year olds who love to spend time with their mum and are great company. Some school kids are fifteen, spotty, stinky, belligerent, pain in the arse, vipers to the breast ingrates. Yep I hate school holidays, I leave for work in the mornings , the house is clean and fragrant, I get home and the place is stinky, full of crisp packets, yoghurt pots, the PC hasn't been off all day and every bloody light in the house is on despite it being mid summer. I'd love some quality time, if only .......

they're not always cute at 7 either

Parents are allowed a break,it doesn't make you a shit parent if you crave quality time,in fact it helps make you a parent more able to deal with the stresses of parenthood

It doesn't matter if that quality time is sex with a stranger,a night at the opera or an afternoon sat in the library either,if you go back to your children refreshed, relaxed and happy then its all good as far as I can see

OP don't let anyone make you feel bad for posting what you did

And yes I work with vulnerable children so I see the effects and devastation ineffective parenting can cause. I also live in the real world and see the OP as it was intended (and confirmed by the OP) as light hearted. I won't be making that call to Childrens Social Care . I'm sure if you have genuine safeguarding concerns you will have already reported her.

OP - enjoy the summer break and make up for it in September

I'm not arguing this anymore as the op has declared it all to be meant in jest.....no one is rose tinting.
