Anybody see metalica at glasto on the tv last night?

Fair play ive never bought a record by them but i think they rocked the main stage last night.

And the encore of whisky in the jar was great.

Good to see a heavy metal band at glasto for a change.?

They got threatened with legal action for not paying royalties on whiskey in the jar. They claimed it was an old folk Ballard but they actually covered the thin lizzy version which is different.

There's a lot of hypocricy about this though, Eavis is pro-hunt for starters.

I honestly think most people complaining about Metallica were doing so more through music elitism rather than any concern about animal welfare.

When I first started to go to glasto it was a CND _estival and many of the stalls were animal welfare, social injustice and various things like this.

I understand it is now just purely a music _estival and I couldn't give a monkeys who plays there. I will watch some of it from the comfort of my sofa and I'm particularly looking forward to Dolly.

What I didn't like was the attitude of the poster that said just over it. So if people object to things they should just shut up and keep quiet.

Eavis can book who he likes, if people want to raise any objections that is also their right.

I'm pretty sure people showed their disapproval on Twitter by sending death threats to James.

Never had the privaledge of seeing them live, but follewed them for a long time. I thought they were brilliant as ever, I know they caused some controversy due to them being a heavy metal band and it being glasto.

The whisky in the jar is a nice song, but not one of my favourites. I prefer thier more heavier songs, did they play nothing else matters?

Hardly the greatest band of all time. Average even in their own genre. You honestly believe they are better than anthrax, sepultura, led zep, the stones, the who, ZZ top, acdc, slipknot, nickelback and countless more? You like them fair enough but not even close to being no1

I'm hardly the biggest Metallica fan on the planet but Slipknot, Nickleback? Seriously?

I'm pretty sure even Slipknot and Nickleback don't take Slipknot and Nickleback seriously....

Don't Nickckleback mostly do early Soundgarden covers?....

It's 22 years since I first went and 3 since I was last there. It was a much more political environment 22 years ago that's for sure. At least Leftfield has redressed the balance slightly in the last decade. In the 90s it was even worse, The Sun had a presence on site and there were some very big names displacing the independent stalls on the markets.

What makes me despair is when Eavis who has let it evolve in this way bemoans the lack of activism on site - who's fault is that?

The hunting story and pictures are abhorrent but I think there are worse injustices to demonstrate about. Object to the obscenity of staged hunting nit at one dick that did it. Our own royal famil have done similar. And the fact that for many attending Glastonbury the height of their activism is an online petition sums up perfectly what Glastonbury and arguably society has become

sadly yes because there is nothing we can do about it, animals have been exploited by human since the beginning of man kind, we kill them experiment on them and cut down their homes driving some to extinction

I prefer rock-music with a melodic quality rather than the repetitive monotone thrash produced by the likes of Metallica.

I'm a regular hunter, everything I kill ends up on the table it's something I take great pride in. But, what Hetfield did is not hunting, it's killing for the sake of killing.

If the animal has no chance of escape and there's no way you can miss then it's just slaughter, which goes against everything a good huntsman should stand for.

That being said, I enjoyed Metallica's set last night.
