No, not my head, as well deserved as that may be. My body.

A night (or most of a night given how late I was) in 6 inch heels and I wake up so stiff (no dirty jokes!) I nearly fell over getting out of bed! My feet ache. Everything aches!

So, am I too old for this heels malarkey, too lardy or do I just need to do more of it?

I didn't fall off the shoes or go arse over tit (which would have been literally in my outfit) down any stairs

At least, if I did, I don't remember! Yes, it was a good night.

Make sure youre not in new shoes, and give them a spin in preceding days. Also consider having lower heels - wear them for yourself, not for the delights of others. To help you recover, get some foot massage, soak them in icy water - sorry for any shocks - and maybe some ibuprofen gel rubbed in to help reduce swelling. And give your legs a bit of rest - put them up a while. Could be worth taking a pair of comfy flatties with you too, so that you can ease them whilst out. Im on a heels rest period atm, as heat is not a good mix for me with them. Hope you feel better soon

I took intermediate heels after my high heels and then flats.

Still ache.

I wish I had the patience to wear heels for longer since I do love them. A work colleague who I have regular shoe envy of once told me the pain was there to remind her that her feet looked pretty. It didn't help.

I do however have some 6 inch wedges that are actually wearable. And my high heel wearing mother swears by the Insolia (I think) range from M & S. I got a pair of the black patent platform pumps and so far, no achy feet.

I'd have been way too hot in a floor length black velvet evening gown.

I don't think it liked being stuffed in a locker though!

Ive always found no matter how often i wear heels or how old the pair are. After a couple of hours that burning in the balls of my feet is coming whether i like it or not!

honestly the pressure psi on the balls of my feet would be horrendous, plus the ligaments/tendons in my ankles wouldnt be used to it.

its just a logical choice not to try

No more so than a lot of the posts on here tbh, and significantly less so than some. It's a personal bugbear of mine though, men expecting or suggesting women should do something uncomfortable or painful for the enjoyment of the men.

I wore stockings and high heels last night, because I enjoy them and I like how they look, but had anyone tried to tell me to wear them, I'd probably have turned up in thick socks and Crocs or something! I'm just arsey about being told what I should do, especially when it's at my expense and for someone else's benefit.

Thank you for the apology though, that's a much bigger response than many would manage.

6 inch heels with a 3 inch platform, your only actually wearing 3 inch heels, that's my secret

These had a platform but it was only an inch or an inch and a half. The heel is still bloody high. They look good though

I saw your heels and they were amazing...our discussion re: heels, artificial joints and sciatica did lead to me getting a lovely leg (or vicinity of the leg) massage from a very nice chap in Jaydees so I was a happy bunny but i will stick to the slightly sensible shoes rather than explain to my surgeon why my hip hasn't lasted as long as expected
