He gets a four month total football ban. That includes domestic football and a nine game international ban.

FIFA have got no balls, 4 month domestic ban starts immediately, there is no football for the next two months anyway so he will only miss two months of the premiership. Should have made the 4 month ban start as the domestic football season resumed.

4 months isn't enough, unless you make him play with a mask when he returns.

Imagine how bad it would look if he went for it again but this time with a mask on.

If LFC do sell him, then his value will have gone up as no international commitments for a while.

"Like a Hannibal mask? "

Yes. It would be horrific if the rage got to him again but nobody would be hurt.

Id ban him for life other than the court case Liverpool would bring, they could still get £40m + for him.

If offered now, Id take that.

I think it should have been a years ban both international and domestic. Yeah he was not playing for Liverpool at the time but he is an ambassador for the club and on the world wide stage.

How many kids have watch him do that now with all the press its created what sort of example has that set? I years ban and no pay would have been better as like someone else has said its 4 months paid holiday really.

If Suarez had been done for drink-driving he would not be allowed to drive for his employer. I guess the same principle applies. It appears he will not be allowed to train or enter a football facility. The only thing allowed is to be transferred

Suarez has serious issues and once again has let everyone down that matters. The Uruguayan FA and lawyers and LFC supporters do him no favours as they are do little more than enabling him.

Liverpool are unfortunate that they have worked so hard in the last year to rehabilitate Suarez and were making progress. However the root of the problem has not been fixed and they are suffering the consequences.

Luis deserves any action taken against him, Liverpool don't. However as employers they need to take it on the chin as they chose to continue to employ him.

If I was now Liverpool management I think cutting the losses would be prudent. He may be the best player in the premiership but he will do it or something similar again and the force of the disciplinary punishment will only increase. A deal, with either Barcelona or Real, would be very welcome, in my view, should they still be interested. According to Balague the buyout clause is £64 million.

Are all the ban him for life people really serious or are they just Liverpool haters ?

I think the ban is about right. Nine international games is about two years worth. FIFA needn't have given him a domestic ban but saw fit to ban him for four months which is quite lengthy.

When an English player did exactly the same thing, Jermaine Defoe , the English FA deemed a yellow card to be sufficient.

Or are we all outraged because he's a foreigner. In South America this is getting hardly any press.

Football is a global business and to ban one of its so called super stars would impact income in a lot of areas of the global market that is football.

I was discussing this with a London cabbie today and he called Suarez a great player. I did beg to differ Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, Tom Finney, Eusabio et al were great players. If Suarez was on the outside that is every day life committing aggravated assault would carry a 10 year jail sentence. I would say to the readers you bite three people on separate occasions and see what the justice system would say.

The man is ..............well he is not a man he is in need of help as in my opinion he is a racist thug with a talent for kicking a ball.

Let's get this in perspective, every week there are players regularly committing possible career ending fouls and getting the odd red or yellow card. Suarez has bitten 3 players; not hard and not drawn blood. He needs help but this is FIFA showing what bunch of clueless fools they are. Pull British football out of FIFA andUEFA

Biting someone whether you draw blood or not is an act of violence and assault...this should not be tolerated in any circumstances and he needs to face the consequences for being a complete twat...football is a international game where youngsters idolise players...those players should be setting an example to the football players of the future and not going around taking chunks out of other players....he got his just deserts....

it will be a 4 month ban plus... remember it said ALL footballing activities which means that he will also not be allowed to train with any club, will not be able to use any trainer associated with a club, he will basically be on his own...

so where in theory he will not be allowed to play football till 1st november.... you probably wont see him in the premiership till beginning of december...

i still don't think the ban was long enough... i was expecting 6 months....

the kicker is that only the uruguayian fa or suarez themselves can contest it....

and if they do and he doesn't win... they also have the power to extend it....

They have to pay him, they have a binding contract between them. The maximum they can fine him us two weeks wages, a couple of hundred thousand pounds, if they refuse to pay him he would do them in court for breach of contract get his wages in full and then say Liverpool have broken the contract thus allowing the contract to be terminated and him being a free agent. Then he could move to whichever club paid him the most and they would pay loads because there would be no transfer fee. In reality he has Liverpool F.C over a barrel, the best they can hope for is if Real or Barca take him off their hands.

"It has been said that Suarez has a clause in his contract that says he won't receive pay should something like this happen...but this is by no means anything other than conjecture as far I am concerned.

I reckon if lfc try not paying him while he's banned he'll see that as reason to leave

More fool them for not having a clause saying if he gets banned, he doesn't get paid."

As I said above it is said they put it in his contract last summer when it was renegotiated. I cannot verify the veracity of that statement though.

"He was getting help from liverpool fc n had a great season just let his country his club n fans but most importantly himself badly down again such a shame he is an amazing footballer"

see... liverpool football clubs issue is they have no moral high ground to support him on this...

they bought him whilst he was in the middle of serving a 7 game ban for biting with ajax... they supported him again biting ivanovic... now this....

best stat about suarez i have heard today.... he has never been sent off for liverpool, but will have missed a seasons worth of games (39 in total) for bans has had received whilst playing for liverpool.....

nutcase......

Former Australian rugby league international John Hopoate was banned for 12 weeks Wednesday after being found guilty of "interfering" with opponents.

The Wests Tigers winger was said to have jammed his fingers up the backsides of three North Queensland players during a match last weekend. NRL judiciary commissioner Jim Hall said: "I must say in my 45 years involvement in rugby league I've never come across a more disgusting allegation than I've had to deal with now."

Hopoate denied the charges, but television replays appeared to support them. Hopoate, who is as well known for his antics off the field as his ability to score tries on it, continued his protest, saying he thought he had nothing to answer for.

"I'm a great believer in what happens on the field should stay there," he said.

But the graphic accounts of Hopoate's three victims helped condemn the giant Tongan-born winger to another lengthy suspension. "There was pressure there. I know he wasn't doing it accidentally. He was definitely pushing," said North Queensland player Paul Bowman. "I was disgusted. I couldn't believe it."

For those comparing Suarez to Jermaine Defoe, as far as i'm aware Defoe's was a 1st time offence and he has'nt done it again since. This is the 3rd time Suarez has bitten a player on the field of play, i think FIFA should have given the maximum penalty of a 2 year ban for international and club football.

A 4 month ban is pathetic, and the £65 grand fine is a joke, (pocket change to Suarez). I do hope adidas terminate their sponsor deal with Suarez over this, that will cost him a lot more money in the long term.

FIFA really should have made an example out of Suarez and given the maximum punishment of 2 years.

The guy is a disgrace, young kids all over the world watching this world cup, the kids idolise these players and kids tend to want to copy their heroes. How long will it be now before we start to see stories in the news of kids copying Suarez and biting other kids while they are playing school or sunday league football matches?

I suspect he already wants to leave?

I saw a newspaper report the other day where Suarez was quoted as saying the Uruguay v England match was a do or die match for him, it meant everything after the way he's been treated in England. I assumed from his comments he was refering to the reaction to his racist attack on Evra and the reaction to his bite on Ivanovic here in England?

I guess he does'nt compare the £200,000 grand a week from Liverpool and being awarded player of the year highly in comparison?

This ban and fine are all well and good but part of the punishment should have been ongoing counselling for the next 2 years.

He is talented but flawed and this punishment does not address the issues he clearly has.

The fact him and Uruguay feel he has done nothing wrong is quite worrying.

But when he does return he will be even better think he will go to Spain next summer.

Liverpool don't have the right to appeal, I'm told.

Uruguay are, apparently, appealing."

I also think its a disgrace that Uruguay intend to appeal to FIFA over this. How can they possibly begin to defend what Suarez did????

They should just accept the punishment.

If Uruguay appeal and then lose the appeal i hope FIFA will then increase the punishment/length of ban and FIFA are entitled to do this if Uruguay do appeal.

Is what suarez done any worse than cantona karate kicking a fan in the stand? I for one certainly don't think so but he does deserved to punished for what he did. What annoys me is the fact that the Italian player never copped a ban for retaliation with his elbow just the same as evra never got punished for racially abusing suarez even though he admitted it at the time. Cause he only said what he said to suarez the once makes it alright?

Did you expect the italian guy to stand there and take it? Of course he would retaliate, try to get Suarez's mouth off his shoulder. Cantona kicked a fan once, this is the 3rd time Suarez has bitten a player now, will we see it happen for a 4th or even 5th time? Only time will tell?

"Liverpool stood by him through the racism ban and the last biting ban so they will do the same again"

Any club who wants to attract new young supporters should not stand by anyone who behaves like this! Sell him and forget about him he doesn't deserve success.

"Cantona was pure class. Upfront , not like that sneaky fucker.

Do you think Cantona was better than Suarez?

Different league of human beings. The man was a fuckin' poet."

Yeah and a limited one

Shouldn't LFC have done that the previous time he bit someone, like in a LFC match?

If they didn't then, why do so now?

Retaliation is a red card offence whether it's a bad challenge, head butt, verbal abuse or biting you receive. I'm not saying what he did should go unpunished but I'd like consistency from the powers thata be

"Is what suarez done any worse than cantona karate kicking a fan in the stand? I for one certainly don't think so but he does deserved to punished for what he did. What annoys me is the fact that the Italian player never copped a ban for retaliation with his elbow just the same as evra never got punished for racially abusing suarez even though he admitted it at the time. Cause he only said what he said to suarez the once makes it alright?"

Conveniently forgetting that this is the THIRD occasion he has bitten..with no provocation...what part of that can you not understand?

So you want a player to get done for trying to shrug off the teeth that are biting into him? I'm sure if someone was biting you you'd politely ask them to remove their teeth as soon as it was safe for them to do so, Are you a Liverpool fan by any chance?

What part do you not understand? If you read properly I said he deserves to be punished for what he did it's the italians retaliation I don't understand that can go unpunished. That's my point

I understood what you said which is why I asked you the things I asked, which by the way you failed to answer

"The man is a thug and a racist. Enough said. "

If you read the full FA judgement on the Evra farce that even says Suarez is not racist. Evra was described as a untrustworthy person .

Yes I am a Liverpool fan and if someone bit me on a football park I'd do more than elbow them that's why I'd merit a red card as well. Whether we like it or not retaliation carries a red card that's my point

The FA are a farce. I wonder how many of their symbolic ranks have experienced racist abuse. They were not there. Maybe you should ask the black players for their judgement.

Not sure how much the Italian caught him, but I know what you mean if It's viewed as retaliation. I'm with you too that if someone bit me they'd probably be minus their teeth

John Barnes suffered racist abuse for years yet even he doesn't believe Suarez is a racist

in Lancashire

I think the ban is harsh on LFC but that it was inevitable, they have stood by him and a lot of work has been done with him which was evident by his behaviour after he returned last year..

however he is their player so its all relative..

on the 'ban for life', 'he's an animal' etc etc type hysterical comments by some do lead one to think there is a massive amount of cobblers being spouted..

he was bang out of order, clearly needs some sort of 'help' with that aspect of his character and I hope he never wears a Liverpool shirt again..

but as bad as what he did obviously was he did not dive in premeditated to take some other player out with a possible career ending tackle which many have done so before and will do again..

perspective needed perhaps..

John Barnes was not there. I am not convinced a person who bites a fellow professional is entirely trustworthy.
