In times of severe cut back on public services is it right that the cost of maintaining the Royal House Hold rose to £35.7m in the last financial year?

Costs of repairing and maintaining 3 royal palaces rose by £2.7m. The queen has an estimated personal wealth of circa £1.4b

I've no problem with it.....

I think the royal household provides good value for the nation in comparison to what it costs us....

How do you measure the value to the nation?

"How do you measure the value to the nation?"

Apart from the obvious ......

Any public funds used to maintain the royal household are spent on British good and services provided by British companies which give employment and security to British families…..

Or perhaps you think that's a wasteful use of public money.

How much of that is spent on wages that would leave more people in austerity if they weren't paid?

Would it be fair to suggest that the £35.7m could be spent on other infrastructure works rather than the Royal Household.

If you are of the Keynesian persuasion that huge sum of money could improve the multiplier effect.

Perhaps the Queen would consider paying for some of the cost of the Royal household from her own personal (considerable) wealth and add to the multiplier effect as she does have the country's best interests at heart?

I'm afraid I studied economics a long time ago and then only briefly. I know who Keynes is but can only guess at the rest.
