my jacket potato has literally exploded all over the inside of the oven....!!!

why would it do that, I pricked it before putting in...?!

I'm debating whether to scrape it off and make mash......

It's because of the variety you used,

it probably had a high water content , which turned into steam and......booooooom

Ah that could be it, I used a Taste the Difference Vivaldi or some name like that as they were on offer....false advertising as I didn't get to taste it lol...!!

Oh I don't know. I think old ones can explode and make a mess too. Depends on the prick really and how long it has been left unattended
