Not checked emails in awhile so fired up the old desktop pc and damn .... avirus called the "Metropolitan Police " virus popped up !

Completely freezes all operation and looks very official, but isnt !

Any one else had or heard of it and is it difficult to get rid of ?

"Thank u for that ...will give it a go !"

Start the computer in safe mode with networking and then run your antivirus and malwarebytes.

If your fed up of the troubles of Windows why not try a version of Linux?

You can get Ubuntu with a full office package or something that doesn't require much resources like Linux Mint

You can download most into a live CD and give them a try before installing them and if you do take the plunge installing Linux shouldn't delete your windows install

go on give it a try

Plus one for Linux.

There will be a little time while you adjust to a new layout of the desktop/gui. After that though there will be no looking back.

Scunthorpe

I would start your computer in SAFE MODE, then run SYSTEM-RESTORE, pick a date at least a week before the attack (Just to avoid "delayed" attacks).

Should be all Sorted.
