"Ladies do you ever get used to them, i dont mean the pain and the moods. My mates wife was on at the weekend when we went to Ascot and he was saying it ruined her whole day. Does it ruin your day/night out if you are on or do tyou just accept it." I've been having periods for nearly 40 years and I've never really got used to them - they've ruined many a day out and trashed holidays (for me - not everyone else). And my body just seems to 'know' when we've got a trip to Kestrels planned - hey presto - the day before the red flag is flying! Most women (including myself) just get on with it but I really can't wait til I shrivel and can put the damned things behind me!

"I am glad mine were regular and didn't cause me any real problems but I'm even more glad I had a hysterectomy years ago Wow, never thought i would ever hear the day a lady say that" oh! Every woman I know who had a hysterectomy always say its the best thing they ever had done! Spose ya gotta remember also you don't have that done for no reason, so for many I assume it a relief

"Do what I do and get the marina coil. No periods now, apart from the odd bit of spotting, for 6 and a half years. Simples" I've got the coil now, only been in since feb, and honestly... I wish it had stopped them. They are now just unpredictable and still just as heavy. I've actually asked for a hysterectomy, but because I'm under 40 and only have one child, they won't consider it. I've had damn near 30 years of suffering now (Less being preg) as even the pill didn't completely help.

"I think it's a bit of both, to answer the op. Yes, you have no choice but to accept it and get on with living life those days but it can ruin days. Mine are like cheeky's with the added bonus of large pain causing clots up to the size of clementines. They're no fun and i just might be glad when they stop. " Similar story but add in radiated pain so bad after a coil I couldn't put my right foot to the ground for the first two days of any period, the associated anaemia was also an issue, but.... A hysterectomy in 2008 and it's the most liberating thing I've ever had done

Ask for marina instead if you do.

"Do what I do and get the marina coil. No periods now, apart from the odd bit of spotting, for 6 and a half years. Simples" The other half had one fitted 7 months ago and has bled every day since ( hence us not playing ) , hospital consultant says it sometimes happens like that and is normal, told him it was a great contraceptive as it really cuts down on the sex

The mirena doesn't work for everyone, for some of us that cocktail of hormones just makes everything even worse! The most irritating thing about periods and swinging is when men suggest that we can still meet and they'll make do with a blow job and maybe anal! Especially since during my periods I don't get cramps but that whole area is very tender and any kind of sex would feel violent!

No, I have the mirena. Hate it - it hasn't helped at all - its irregular and still as bloody painful (pardon the pun) I've been told give it another 9 months (so a year in total) before they will consider alternatives

The headaches, exhaustion - couldn't keep my eyes open past 5pm, back pains, the list goes on. The nurse didn't want to remove it until I told her I would do it myself! Took me 6 month to start feeling like me again.
