How honesty are you?

I was at KFC and handed the cashier a £10.00 note to pay for my food. When he gave me my change he gave me the change for a £20.00 note. I didn't say anything

But would have you?

Yes, I would have handed it back. I'm lucky with money, so it's not a difficult decision for me. It may be for others.

To me, the real question would be what the heck was I doing in a KFC

I think most decent people would've made the cashier aware, but then how many decent people will you find in a branch of KFC?

It's the restaurant equivalent of Mos Eisley spaceport.

Yes. I'm too honest for my own good.

I withdrew some cash from my bank a couple of years ago - this is the bank that thinks nothing of heaping on huge charges for going £2.72 overdrawn and are ruthless in the pursuit of profit - and they gave me £100 too much. I double checked it before I left the branch, realised and returned to the counter and gave it back.

I've kicked myself ever since but I know I'd do the same thing if it happened again.

Only once recently have I not said anything when undercharged (by £6).

A few months ago i went to a cafe and asked for three sandwiches,

She only took for one,

I went back the next day to pay her after i realised the mistake,

Not much money i know but it wasn't mine

This happened to me in a shop a few years ago. The cashier was so busy talking to her friend, not that I begrudge shop workers talking. She didn't even acknowledge me, at any point. I was so annoyed with her I kept the money.

Im regulaly pointing out such over payments. Not on purpose, it is just natural. Id hate staff to be disciplined due to errors that are preventable. As for kfc - Im not sure it is a wise move, but we all love different stuff in our mouths.

Fact is when mistakes in change are the other way round I am very quick and quite voluble in pointing out the mistake and wanting the correct change, and I believe that I have a duty to be as punctilious with myself as I am with others.

It depends on what kind of shop I was in.

Supermarkets, general kind of shops I'd probably say there and then their giving me too much back but if it was what I'd call a typical brain dead Mackies \ KFC individual who doesn't give a toss about getting peoples orders right then I wouldn't say anything.

So often I've been done by Fast food employees who can't get a simple order right, and it's always things missing, never too much stuff.

I would have told them and given it back however I did once say politely to a cashier years ago she had given me the wrong change and she went off on one saying she hadn't it was right. I said ok and walked off. She had given me too much but because she was rude I kept it.

Yes I would say.

Couple months ago, I was parked in my car when I saw a bundle of notes fall off a man's pocket, he had just been to the cash machine. I could have left him drive off and take the cash... Probably £200 I would say... But no, I shouted out and told him. He was very grateful to say the least, came to me and thanked me a thousand time lol.

If it was only a few pence, I probably wouldn't bother, but for change for £20, I would hand it back. Having been working in retail for the last 25 years, I understand all the pressures cashiers experience and having to be all the ball all the time. I wouldn't like if I had accidently given out too much change...I once handed back £50 back to the bank and there by a newbie, although I wasn't thanked for it.

I once found a purse on the white line in the middle of the road in town, stopped the car opened my door and picked it up then parked up.

Opened it to see if there was any I.D that could be used to locate the person and thankfully they had a business card inside, it was for a shop nearly opposite to where I'd found it along with credit cards and £60 or £80 cash so I took the purse inside and managed to give it her back.

Yes as If the till is short the cashier has it taken out their wages...it was a person error...these things happen why should we take the piss and keep the change when someone does this.

I worked in a fast food chain whilst I was at college. Not everyone is an idiot that works there...

If I noticed I would of told the person as they will have gotten a warning when their till was cashed up. Not the end of the world though so I wouldn't worry.

Yes, always do as cashiers are often liable for mistakes in the till balance. but less likely in a supermarket as I am usually so stressed by the shopping I wouldn't notice the change.

I was given an extra beef chow mein the other day. The delivery guy had already left by the time I noticed so I popped it in the fridge for the following days lunch.

When it comes to cash though I'm usually more honest because karma has a nasty way of biting you on the arse when you least expect it...

(him) These days cashiers, are told by the till how much it is, they type in the till how much the customer gave them, & the till tells them how much change to give back. I've been a workshop supervisor for garages in the past so I know how easy tills are to work. If the cashier can't even do simple 7-8 year old maths by simply counting the money the till has said to give the customer, they should go back to school & this time, they should pay attention. Working a till is not rocket science, in fact, it's the opposite.

I was once walking to work behind a lady who had a tenner hanging out of her jeans pocket and eventually it fell out, I picked it up, thought about it for a sec then tapped her on the shoulder and gave it to her

On another occasion when I found money, I could not give it back as I was on a meet, we walked towards a table in a pub and as I pulled out the chair to sit down, there was £20 on it and no-one else in that area plus in the whole time we were sat there, no-one came back, I would have given it to them if they had

This happened to me too, except there was £500 in cash in the wallet. I drove to the persons (mahoosive) house to hand over the wallet; was I thanked? Was I fuck! Wish I'd kept it and fucked off to Paris for the weekend! Miserable / ungrateful fecker...

I always give it back, even handed in notes found on supermarket floor, couple of years ago I used the cash machine ( I always keep the printout ), money wasn't debited from my account after a month, went to bank and explained, was looked at as if I was daft, gave the printout, told them make a copy and get back to me in 28 days or I keep the money regardless....never heard a word from them, some other persons account debited for money I was given gratis!. Made me wary about plastic ever since.

I remember once finding a leather purse

with about 7/8 pounds in all change but

I actually did the opposite one night in a well known supermarket, I swore blind that I had paid with a £20 and hadn't received all my change, after the cashier got all flustered and gave me the extra £10 I suddenly realised that I has changed my £20 earlier in the day but by then I couldn't admit I was wrong and took the £10 and hurried out the shop

We would have kept the 'bonus' £10 and taken it as a 'gift of fate' which we would of course donate to a worthy cause of some sorts. Nothing gladdens the heart more than being able to help those less fortunate than ones self. One second thoughts....fuck em....We would blow the Ill gotten filthy lucre on a giant bag of sweets and bottles of fizzy pop..... Slurrrrrrrp!!!
