"Could you not use some M16 threaded rod and 2 nuts?" that could probably work, just been reading up on bolt sizes and different thread pitches, and their was me thinking a bolt was a bolt lol

"If it's large diameter you are looking for then think plumbing supplies more than engineering old fashioned 1" pipe was dirt cheap and the thread cutter to go with it. Don't know if there is a metric equivalent or if its only repairing old stuff but I have used it for clamps and other heavy projects in the past. " I was looking at tap and die sets they are surprisingly cheap, I remember giving one away years ago thinking I would probably never use it lol, I have Emailed a local engineering ferm, lets wait and see what price they come back with, if they can be bothered to take on an order of one bolt, nut, and a couple of washers lol

"What are you wanting to press bearings onto (or into)? " well I did a rear wheel bearing on my sisters fiesta last weekend, I got the old one out using a bub puller but had to use a lump of wood and a big hammer to smack the new one in, not a job you do very often, so I thought I don't really wont to spend the money on a full bearing puller tool set, I have seen clips on youtube of people doing it with a big bolt and a few spacers and using socket the right diameter to push the bearings in.

"Could you not use some M16 threaded rod and 2 nuts?" This is generally what I use along with a few washers. I've done all manner of things such as wishbone arm bushes and wheel bearings.

"couldn't you just drift it in with a ground down socket? jen xx" yes it can be done that way, just trying to make life a little easier for next time I have to do a bearing

"Thunderbolts check website. Will the threaded bar be to soft tho? " Mmm I have seen it done before, I guess it depends on how stubborn the bearing is when you try getting it out, I dare say the thread might strip off.
