Nerves!!!!

So as you all know it's the big party this time next week... So now the nerves are setting in!! Meeting new people, looking ok, not making a twat of myself, having a good time with my date for the night (although we have met before so not quite as terrified about this as I would be)

BUT.. I think the nerves is part of the fun. And if the last big social is anything to go by after about 5 minutes I'll be having a whale of a time!!

So do you still get nervous??

We'll be nervous as it's our first big social gig. Always a tad shy in a new crowd even though we've exchanged plenty of banter/flirts with quite a few of the attendees. Hugely looking forward to seeing everyone.

The only downer is money's a bit tight so I can get my dinner suit look rocking

I'm not nervous about the social, as I rub along ok wherever I am, mostly due to being a happily oblivious nincompoop. I am a bit nervous about doing a comedy routine in front of 200 people, though, but I'm sure I'll be fine once I start.

I have a few backstage rituals that I always carry out before a gig, the main one being annoying the crap out of the sound guy with an overly loud amp and specific things coming through my monitor. If he looks seriously pissed I know everything is gonna go fine!

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I'm nervous because I have difficulty with faces and won't recognise anyone.

I'm also stressed about what to wear, money being short and having to pack, (I hate packing for anything, even just an overnight stay. It usually leads to a near breakdown).

Otherwise I'm fine. People can take me or leave me and if I'm not having a good time I can leave, so I'm not worried about it.

I'm looking forward to meeting a few people for the first time and to seeing some people again.

There is a fine line, if any, between nerves and excitement - most of it is interpretation. Nervousness can be calmed in may ways, largely I think the best are doing those things that relax you. Yoga, meditation etc are excellent, though you can gain similar benefits from good relaxation and healthy breathing exercises. Plenty of slower, deeper breathing, out count for twice as long as in breaths. Freeing your mind of any negative anxieties, such as imagining negative stuff happening - notice any thoughts arising, smile and stop them in their tracks. Ensure you focus on your strengths and qualities, and not the opposite. Do some exercise too, as you will be focusing on your exercise and not upcoming stuff. Eat well, avoid some caffeine if possible. And lots of rest and good sleep. Hope you have a fabulous time!

Oh blimey don't start adding up what you've spent...!!!

Just think of it as an investment ~ dress, heels & lingerie all can worn again on another night out ( with a different set of friends obvs! )

Your best mate partner in crime is attending isn't she? As long as bags are not left behind and we keep poking you with a sharp stick all should be well.

I get nervous, but usually about finding the place and then settling into my look for the occasion. Once I am happy with me then the nerves disappear.

It's not personal, my ability to remember and recognise faces is a bit broken."

You don't have to recognise anyone - we are wearing masks.

I went to my first social this year, and was absolutely bricking it. Although I knew a few from the chat rooms it was very daunting. but the time it was nearly over I had settled down and started to enjoy it. More socials planned for this year!!
