Job Interview Tip?

Have interview in morning for a job that would change my life for the better. Nervous as hell especially as I don't finish work till 6 and interview is at 11. I have been self employed for 20 years so any tips / advice on how to dress, things to say etc really would be appreciated please. Job is in sales management.

Remember:

1. You want THE Job not A job.

2. Do not talk about "MY career development opportunity" they do not care. Say what you can do for their company not what they can do for you.

3 Read up on the company and show knowledge on what they do.

Look smart and well groomed; suits are so old hat with women these days. Wear a shirt, a smart pair of wide legged trousers, smart shoes and subtle jewellery. Good luck!

Ask them questions.

People forget to do this, ask where the company is going.

Opertunity for progression.

At the end you can ask if they feel you have answered their questions.

And the big one...

What type of person are they looking for to fill the role.

I had to go on an interview course with an agency, it all works

I am Interviewing three people this morning, be polite, seem genuinely interested and look smart. They are the main things I look for. Then of course answer the questions to the best of your ability, don't be afraid to ask them to repeat the question to give you alittle extra thinking time if your really stuck and then ask a few questions of your own to really show you've done your research and that you are interested. Once the interview is done, interview them. This is your opportunity to find hit about them

Ask things like;

What would my working day be like here?

What is the culture like here?

Etc

The more relaxed you are then the better you will give of yourself. It will support your confidence and ability to be yourself and natural. Im not in sales, but key talents seem to be people skills and confidence, underlying the ability to influence others. As a manager you will need to motivate and lead so demonstrate how you can do this. Whilst interested in you, it is about how you can do their job and earn them money, so focus on them, as someone highlighted earlier. Use eye contact, smiles and remember to breath well - you will sustain your relaxation and speak better. Plenty of deep breathing before, maybe some yoga if you do it. I often to a workout before interviews, as I find it grounds me well and Im thoroughly confident and strong as a person. Good luck!

I interview people.

Job history and experience separate the wheat from the chaff. If there's a lot of like candidates - it comes down to what attributes you give in the interview and personality.

Difficult one. Some good interviewees have been bad employees. And vice versa. I

No idea what your target job field is, but:

If you will be working as part of a team: have examples where you have done this in the past.

Self employed: stress resourcefulness, determination and attention to detail.

If there is a technical question you don't know the answer: say so. Nothing worse than waffling (badly).

Have examples of how you manage stress etc.

Know their market position/what they do etc - this shows that you have done some research into them.

If you have got this far - you know they *are* interested in you; they think you could do the job.

One of the best tips I had was at the end, when they ask if you have any questions, ask them if you have answered theirs fully. I got my current job doing this, as there was one question I had been a little vague on.

Just be yourself. And try to relax. Some times the person doing the interview can be just as nervous as you.

I got a call Wednesday at 10 from a job I forgot I'd applied for lol. Wanted to interview me, along with others, yesterday morn (Thursday). I couldn't make that so suggested I went immediately.

Walked in 30 mins later with naff all preparation.

What it meant was I didn't have time to think/dwell on things so I was very much my natural self, very off-the cuff.

Possibly didn't ask all the right questions etc but it obviously worked. Offered the job on the spot....dunno about the others going on Thursday but hey not my problem

Most important is be honest to yourself and be yourself. It is a sales job? Sell yourself!!

When talking about your achievements remember to say 'I did' so and so not 'we did'.

Have some examples of notable things you have done at front of mind.

Be ready to talk about things that haven't gone well, how you dealt with it and what you learned.

Managing rejection, difficult situations and conflict are all popular questions and a real life (or made up) example will really help.

Imagine the interview team are all naked. This will make you feel empowered and confident.

Unfortunate side effects are you might get a lady boner. What ever you do wait until after the interview before you fap.
