Did anyone watch this the other night? Really shocking how some parents dont take responsibility for their kids dental hygiene!

My children didn't have any fillings until they were in their 20s. Teeth are very important to me

Well done you, my mum was the same with me!

Watching a kid have most of his teeth taken out and the mum saying he eats too many toffees and dont brush his teeth was maddening. The kid was 4 ffs. Dont give him sweets and teach him to brush properly! The lad has to wait for his adult teeth now to be able to bite!

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I had my first ever filling aged 38, shortly followed by a root canal.

It would have been avoidable if my dentist had taken note when I started to complain (and continued to complain) about sensitivity in that tooth two years earlier.

To say I was gutted was an understatement.

Although the tooth looked fine externally, by the time she bothered to take an x-ray, the inside of the tooth was totally rotten.

Filling it didn't cure the sensitivity so she suggested a root canal. Then she overfilled the canals so I still get sensitivity and pain! A new dentist has told me I can either live with it or I can have the root canal removed and redone. The latter option would need to be done by a specialist. Unsurprisingly there are no specialists anywhere near here, except in the private sector and privately the work would cost many, many hundreds of pounds.

So, I guess I'll be living with the pain then.

Thank you very much NHS dentistry for ignoring a minor problem until it became serious and then stuffing up mending it to the extent that it's going to take a private dentist, and a fuck tonne of cash I don't have, in order to fix it.
