Help needed, with wife's pussy

For reasons that don't concern you L (my wife) has not been home for 3 weeks, and it's not looking good for the next few either.

Me being me have managed to kill off most of the houseplants, which I can get out of by buying more when she gets home...

BUT now her cat won't eat! hasn't eaten for 2 days, any tips on fixing that problem much appreciated, it would be disastrous if I killed off the cat as well. (he is old, but recently had a work over at the vets and nothing particular showed up)

Try fresh tinned Tuna or if the cat is ill, then rice and boiled chicken.

If your wife finds you have been trying to do your best....

She still won't be happy, but at least you tried!!!

Sheffield

Try sardines or pilchards in tomato sauce.

Leave it down though cos mine eat the tomatoes first and come back for the fish later.

The classic stuff recommended for cats or dogs not eating is scrambled egg (no seasoning) or white fish or chicken mixed with a bit of cooked rice. You can get bags of fish and chicken fillets from your local cheapie freezer shop. And either can be microwaved.

Probably missing your wife. They don't seem to like change in my experience. Just keep putting fresh food and water down daily.

Go to the vet and get a plug in they have special ones to calm cats down as maybe it's missing her and getting stressed

"Is the cat getting fed elsewhere ?"

No he hasn't been outside beyond the back patio for a couple of weeks.

I will try the rice and boiled chicken, he has never liked "human" tuna has eaten sardines before but not tempted by it yesterday. He is a black cat and moulting frantically so I guess he may just be to hot to bother, but he doesn't appear to be drinking much either.

I will go to the vet if he doesn't improve soon, he is a skinny cat so really can't be going to long without food, but doubt it's stress as L has been working away 4 days a week for over 6 months anyway so I have become prime carer.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

It may be something simple like his teeth are hurting.

You said he was seen by the vet recently but he could have developed a problem since.

Not eating is one thing but not drinking would seriously worry me ;-( esp in this heat.

Yes that occurred to me, but he was preferring hard biscuit to soft food a few days ago (always put down in separate dishes as he is fussy about that!)

Going to try some of the recipes kindly suggested on this thread, if that doesn't tempt him then it will be a trip to the vet.

You can check if the Cat is dehydrated: pinch a bit of skin on its scruff (back of the neck) and pull it up then watch as it goes back. If it pings back fairly quickly the cat is drinking enough. If it 'tents' for a second before it goes back then the cat is dehydrated.

If you're not sure do it to the skin on the back of your own hand so you have something to compare to.

The cat is obviously pining for her mum

You must do the following

Entertain the cat, dress as a mouse and learn the art of scuttling around behind the furniture

Bring a live bird in the house as a gift Call him tweety pie, cat will soon forget about missing mum and should eat prime cat food again

Get the dead plants out the house and but sone new ones to replace

By the way you are in for it if the cat dies so make sure it doesn't happen !

It's quite obvious your wife's pushy needs a good stuffing and historically not many couples have had trouble sorting this on Fab if you read the thread's.

Try teasing it or perhaps shaving it to make it cold and feel like it wants to fatten up a bit.its only when it smells real bad that you really have to worry.

Hope this helps.

Playing with it might help. One of the fishing rod type toys will tempt most cats to play.

Just to prove that cats are the most contrary creature in the universe the little bugger has just walked down stairs and cleared his wet food bowl completely!

I am going to set up a fan to keep an area cool for him and hope it's all OK. thanks you all for your suggestions.

He used to love that, but since his sister died last year he is more the cuddle type cat than the playful type, got to be an old man very quickly after that.

Glad your pussy's ok.

I have a very hungry pussy. I have to watch him, because no one wants a fat pussy.

"Maybe. Mine's called Sausage. He might "eat your pussy out" of house and home....."

lol when it comes to eating out pussies that's L's hobby!

but as far as cats go he would be hopeless with a new cat about as he takes all day to eat his food a few bites at a time.

I have set up a fan on the landing (one of his many sleeping spots) and he is currently doing his dog in a car window impression by lying right in front facing the fan. So I am guessing it's just a heat problem and hope he will be fine.

Once again thanks for the advice both here and PM, had the fan on all afternoon and he has eaten a bit this evening so hopefully over hot was the problem.

cats will eat when they want to eat, they are not like humans who eat just because its tea time, a social occasion or because they are bored etc.

Providing there are no other signs of illness etc then just leave some food out and it will eat when it's ready.

Pussies are control freaks..... This is his/her way of saying I'm pissed off that your wife is away & I'm going to stop eating, getting you into trouble is a bonus....!!

However all animals will eat when they're hungry providing there is no medical issue.

One of my cats loved half n half milk - skimmed milk with water in it. It was barely milk, but he loved it.

Try a Feliway adapter which you can buy from any pet shop; its like a plug in air freshener but has a calming effect on cats. Its also furball season and a lot of cats go off their food before producing one especially if longhhaired. Its also worth checking inside your cats mouth for loose or broken tooth or an obstruction in the throat (best done wrapped in a towel if you want any skin left on your arms). If your worried; you made the post so obviously are, ring your Vet.

How do you milk a cat? Will they stay still for it?
